Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Hm, didn't check in for a week, and this happens!
Oh well, i was also looking forward to the Fw-190, but as long as the Galland is out... softens the pain...

I was also really looking forward to the checker board cowling Butcher Bird; I guess that makes four people in a row who want this bird. I wish Corgi would reconsider; if they don’t I hope Dragon is paying attention. I also really wanted the AA35815 USAFE “Skyblazers” F-86F and the AA33312 B-17E 41-2488.>>

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

I made an inquiry via the Corgi USA website. I'm not gonna hold my breath though. I'm sure official word will make it here before I here from them directly.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

I'll be honest in that my initial anger, disgust, oh, and loathing of Corgi after reading of this had a lot to do with several of the planes that have been dropped from the schedule. Planes that I was really looking forward to:
  1. Fw-190 with checkerboard cowling
  2. F-86 - Gabreski (that KILLS ME as I just sold my Armour model of this same plane to make room for the Corgi version. Where is that mutt? I want to kick'em!
  3. P-47 - another Gabreski
  4. B-24H from Italy
These would have been sold were they available. To be fair some have postulated that this might be a sound and necessary business move on their part. Ok, perhaps I can accept that. But what I cannot accept is their announcement of and then pulling the rug out from under collectors by canceling them. And I am talking about planes that would probably sell like crazy while they continue to make planes that have limited appeal (e.g. the desert Typhoon that was just released). I don't get it.

Most of my collection is Corgi, and will probably be for a long time. But unless I am missing something (and that could very well be the case) I feel I got kicked where it counts and that the company cares little for its base of dedicated collectors.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

The problem is :

Corgi is too expensive, and now, many sheriff are in town (HM, FOV, IXO, Witty and Dragon).
B25 FOV 39.99 $ B25 corgi 79,99$
HM Stuka 24.99$ Corgi stuka 34.99$
What else ?

Last year i've just buy 2 or 3 2006 corgi model's and i wait on EBAY the reduce prix.
If corgi continue this expansive politic i say BYE BYE, and i not the one.

Think yourselves lucky, in the UK prices are so bad many of us buy from the Mule etc, and still save good money after shipping is included. A lysander is
$76 inc VAT, a JU-88 is $125 and so on. Small discounts are available but still not enough to deter buying from the USA.Many of us wanted the 190 and the shangri-la P-51 as we have a lot of bad schemes left this year, in my opinion no expertise was used in the compilation of this list, many UK releases are not wanted this year.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

The good thing is that ALL the new moulds are still being released ,the ony ones in the list that I am going to miss are the Lancaster and the RAF B25. To be honest how many more P51s,47s,109s etc do we need and most of these moulds are starting to look a bit worn anyway.Think of the good things ,new A10,Halifax,Vampire,Wessex,A4,VC10,Ju52,P51B,Mig29 OK we are losing a few marking variations but there is still enough being released.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Well, IF the list of cancellations is correct, I breath a sigh of relief as the two that I REALLY wanted (and have preordered), one of the Albatross's, and the Billy Bishop SE5a, are NOT on the list.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Been keeping up with this thread over the last couple of days.

I can't say I'm totally shocked. When I saw the extensive list of new releases scheduled for 2007 I do remember thinking, "yeah, right, sure, they're ALL going to be out in the next 12 months!" I thought they'd just lumped the 2007 catalouge in with the 2008. Maybe someone at Corgi thought the same. I notice Tricatus has some models as 'deferred' and others as 'cancelled', which is an important difference. The fact that a number of allegedly cancelled items are sitting on people's shelves does smack of a communication breakdown (SNAFU comes to mind).

I wasn't really interested in more than a handful of the Corgi 2007 releases, but I remember the buzz that went round the forum at the thought of some of the new releases, and appreciate how disappointed they must feel. Some of the choices are insane - the chequerboard FW190 and the ETO P51B even had my attention.

Probably around mid-March Corgi will clarify the situation, and we may find they don't understand the difference between postponed (will happen, but later than planned) and cancelled (won't happen, go away now, we mean it...). Hopefully for those who were waiting for certain releases, they will happen, but sometime in 2008.

Gary

California Cutie just showed up on Ebay from a reputable seller so I guess it's not getting cut after all.

Yeah, before I get all bent out of shape (but my credit card would be happy!), I'm going to wait and see what really happens.

That is awsome news.

As this list originally came from the UK, maybe the US releases just won't be available there?
