At least the Flying mule Tuskegee p-51B is not on there. I was looking forward to that one.

I just checked Louie....CG-US37103 Buddy Archer Tuskegee P-51B it's still on there.

Agreed.. Just because they have been taken off this years list doesn't mean it won't be produced later..

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

I can't answer to the validity of this document as of yet, but I can tell you this. We met face-to-face with Corgi last week, and while the "merger" was discussed, Corgi’s representatives uttered nothing of the sort.

I kinda doubt it's true.

Some of you may say that it's good thing, or that you saw it coming with the price increases or with so many releases for 07, but I'll you that Corgi's products have been selling like wildfire ever since the new catalog came out. For the first time since I can't remember when some of their production runs are selling out before they arrive or shortly there after. But, who knows. I've also witnessed how new post-merger management likes to come in and make a bunch of changes right away. They have to be seen as doing something significant whether it is or not.

Like I said earlier, I really don't know anything yet. But you know who I'll be talking too when Mondays sun rises.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Ahhh!!!! Not these!!! I have these on pre-order, or at least it did. Some of these alleged choices seem absolutely ridiculous. I hope that our pals across the pond are playing their April fools joke on the Yanks five weeks early.

I understand that I tend to buy some things that other wont, but I just don't understand some of these choices. Plus, two of them are already out? Why cancel them? I absolutely love my US32110 Messerschmidt Bf 109E-4/N, and from what I've heard, it's a pretty hot commodity.

That's what I figured. That first list seemed way to arbitrary. Cutting stuff like the "California Cutie" P-38 and Checkerboard 190 and leaving ones like the PR Lightning and Lysander didn't make much sense. I'm sure if they would cut anything it would be the weakest pre-orders, and some of the ones on that list didn't fit the bill.
While I can believe that there will be cuts, I'd like to hear it straight from the dog before I'll believe what's not going to show.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Jumblies models in the UK have the official Corgi letter on their website detailing all the cancellations.

Thanks for the heads-up Shamrock, Jumblies do look to be treating this cancellation list seriously as they are offering refunds on pre-orders. The comprehensive list (including the A34 Comet tank I was looking forward to) can surely only make sense to a bean counter.

As an avid collector I am disappointed but will look elsewhere (brand-wise) for my 'fix'. The dealers who carry the carry the Corgi brand (few & far between here in Oz) must surely be royally p****d off as they are the meat in the sandwich.

Maybe Corgi should have shown some empty display cases at the recent toy fairs, it would have shown their true intentions

The new Management at Corgi must only be a few weeks old & already they are announcing a 25% cut from their 2007 catalogue.
Why did they not weather the 'sins' of the previous crew & allow the catalogue range to continue this year to show some loyalty to their customers, then bring in the hard corporate line? This may be down to the short-term reality of modern corporate thinking of 'seize the day' because we (the board) may not be here next year.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Whilst I personally feel that to slow down is a good thing, but to cancel the two Luftwaffe US releases ?? That's just plain crazy!! They are always the first ones to go...

Another interesting fact is that the run on the remaining models is going to be reduced, that's more like it? Do the Predators range huge runs still make commercial sense

These are all tough choices for collectors (I changed your list a bit by adding green to the Vaught P-40, which is already out, and blue to the Spitfire Gabreski, which is essentially available from GeminiAces).

I've noticed a marked increase in the quality of Corgis' this year, and this may be an effort to consolidate those gains--the idea being that getting into a rush to get everything out will set them back to 2006 levels, and quality-wise that was a very bad year for Corgi (IMHO). They may have also found that factory space in assembly-land was getting tough to find--maybe someone on the forum has some insights in that area. Notice that they didn't cut Predators, which are made by a different company (a company which has their manufacturing process under their own control, and not contracted out).
