Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

One's I was planning to purchase:

AA35815 F-86F Sabre - USAFE 48th FW SKYBLAZERS, Chaumont AB 24 March 1956
AA36608 Lockheed P-38J Lightning - 'Haleakala', s/n 42- 67291,459th FS, 80th FG, Lt. H.H. Sealy,Chittagong,
US34311 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-4 Wk-Nr 0601 of 1./JG 1, Schiphol, Holland, June 1943
US35814 F-86E-10 51-2746, flown by Col Francis ‘Gabby’ Gabreski, commanding officer of the 51st FIW
US36604 P-38J-10 42-67916 of 1Lt Richard Loehnert, 55th FS/20th FG, Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire
US37503 MiG-29 Fulcrum C - Soviet Airforce 2nd Squadron, 115 GvIAP, Termez Uzbekistan, 1990

That's pretty much 75% the Corgi's I was planning to buy in 2007 (they got rid of the best stuff!) . Looks like I will be spending my money elsewhere. Your loss Corgi - and some real lousy choices IMHO.

Well I feel the little mutt has once again bitten the hands that feeds him. Corgi has gone mad and needs to be put down.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about what is and isn't going to be cut. The first list obviously had some errors on it, so waiting for an official statement may be wise.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

If this is true what does it do to the future value of the models like the Galland 109 that did get out here in the US?

I'm sad to see these two canceled:
  • AA33312 Boeing B-17E - 41-2488, 19th BG, Malang, Java, February 1942
  • AA36105 Canadian-Vickers SA-10A Catalina - 4th Air Rescue Sqn.,USAF, Hamilton AFB, CA., 1949

It's a good thing for the pooch to slow the heck down guys. How long do you want to be in this hobby? At the rate we've been seeing the last 2 years I was getting burried. I wanted the checker 190 and Gentile B but can wait for sure and who knows, maybe a better than fido version will come out and we'll be thrilled not to pay $40 for it. Maybe rover used all this year's zinc testing 1/18 scale Spitfires?

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

Delaying releases I can understand, cancelling them after they've been announced and the catalogue has been released and drooled over for a few months is inexcusable!!!

Corgi may be backing off on their releases (possibly to preserve the collectability and pricing of their products) but they are also opening a door for their competition who are less focused on limited editions and maintaining higher prices (and yet still produce high quality products). The dollars will flow to the fresh, desirable products....

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

And I was depressed about the cancellation of the Star Trek Defiant and Voyager models... now I'm really going to be sad. What does this say, if anything, about the future development of new molds for interesting new aircraft?

Your list isn't too bad, I've just wiped 21 models off my list! I hope Witty have some suprises for me, got to spend my money somewhere, Corgi's loss!

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

At least the Flying mule Tuskegee p-51B is not on there. I was looking forward to that one. A Mig-29 will surely be done by others. A-10's are coming from others. The Galland 109 that is already out is still a valuable item. Not sure about the JU-52 floater, but hope it is still coming. Don't touch those WWI jobbies I MUST have them! The P-38 with blue trim was on my list but again Corgi made a toysh model and hopefully the Witty version will suffice. Kudos to Corgi for tightening up. I will need the money from selling my Corgi's to fuel my many Hobbymaster, Witty, and FOV purchases in later years.

Who knows, with the new management and all there's a distinct possibility that the Voyager and Defiant models may well still be made as they're part of popular culture and as the Ferengi would say "there's latinum to be made"...
