AA35214 NEW!
Curtiss P-40F Warhawk "Stud"
Lt. Col. Robert Basler, Commanding Officer of the 325th Fighter Group, Mateur, Tunisia, 1943
1740 produced | 6" (15.2cm) wingspan
A 1/72nd Scale Diecast model from the "US Aircraft in the MTO" series by Corgi Classics

Lt. Col. Robert Baseler scored his five victories in this specially modified Warhawk, before it was repainted in this striking scheme and taken off operations. The outboard guns were removed, along with other nonessential items, to lighten the airplane in the hope of making it capable of reaching high-altitude German photo reconnaissance aircraft. Although its performance was improved, Baseler never did catch one of the high-flying raiders. Baseler added one more victory while flying a P-47, to bring his total to six.

Yes, and I get 'em all--except, of course, the Aleutians Tiger (I'm not totally bonkers). This one is special, just because it is so wild--surely no P-40 buff (nut) will be able to pass it up. Thanks Corgi for having the guts to put it out...

Thanks for the excellent pics . I especially like the fact that Corgi did this one in gloss. Reminds me of my toy-soldier-collecting days (anyone else collect 54mm from Little Lead Men in years past?).

Garish but interesting, it's MTO and would stand out against the bland. What the heck!.... I"ll have it.

Really eye-catching!

I have only one question. If this is supposed to be a P-40F, then why does it still have the air scoop on top of the nose? "F" versions didn't have them and since Corgi has done a correct "F" version in the past, why did they screw-up now? Good ole Corgi!

I guess this is one of those love it or hate it schemes. I, for one, love it. I already have the FM version, and plan to pick this one up too.
