My modified KC-97

I wasn't sure if anyone else did this but the angle the boom was at for this model was an eye sore for me and I wanted this one wheels down with the boom on it I decided to modify it. I was wanting to make some real small paint touch ups where there should be black on the boom but I figured I was pushing my luck.

Re: My modified KC-97

I know a lot of folks have had problems with the KC-97 boom. Most of the customers who've bought these from me broke the threaded part of the boom trying to get it in the hole. Corgi was nice enough to send me some spares.

By the way, if anyone needs a spare boom, let me know.

Re: My modified KC-97

I like the look of that. I may have to do that myself.

IMHO, Corgi should have included another boom for that position if it was going to include the Stratotanker's landing gear. It's kinda like Carousel 1 not including a stand but including gear-up doors with their models.

Nice job man. I am going to do the same.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Thanks, I figured you had already done that by now, that plane just doesn't look right on the stand to me for obvious reasons. I need to get a 1:144 F-104 to stick in the corner with it I agree with you though Gavin it's silly to have the thing wheels down with no boom.

I know Tyler. make sure that you can hardly see the 104. I would still like to know who had the bright idea to paint the interior of the Cold War Hangar black!

I have mixed feelings about it. The center of it in my opinion is well lit and I think it looks cool but it's also a photography nightmare. I will say though when they didn't have the place completed and one end of the hangar wasn't on yet it looked cool with the sunlight coming in.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this (or cares for that matter), however, the Phantom that comes with the KC-97L tanker is not 1/144th scale. While the tanker is 1/144th, the Phantom is 1/160th. I just noticed that the Phantom looked disproportionally small when compared to some of my other 1/144th fighters so I did some measuring. Sure enough, the Phantom came out to 1/160th scale.
