| Corgi and Gemini Aces Fighters Hello Lads: I was pondering my new Galland Bf109E (which I like a lot) and Gemini Aces Bf109F Huy (ditto). Then I got to pondering GA fighters in general against the Corgi versions. In the case of the 109s, both are good, but I thought that the canopy and the air intake on the GA made the difference in terms of satisfying details. The gear down implementation seems a little better as well in terms of getting the correct knock-kneed angle on the 109 gear. The little air intake bump on the side of the Corgi just seems to be half-hearted. Whilst pondering the other fighters, I came the the conclusion that, where appropriate, propeller markings just make a huge difference. Hopefully there will be some technology transfer to Corgi with their new relationship with HM. Hopefully GA will develop some new WWII aircraft. P.S. If you don't have the Black Cat Catalina yet, buy it. Very nice indeed. Cheers, pieceOfCake | |||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi and Gemini Aces Fighters Both versions are very different and I like them. These molds are from almost different generations. Diecast technology has moved on since corgi produced the first 109. Although both are 109's they are also very different airplanes. I think it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges. Corgi really have taken a leap recently with the Swordfish among others. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi and Gemini Aces Fighters Pieceofcake, Hey there. For me, Corgi birds have always been on the "lazy" end. It always seems like they go right up to the point of making a GREAT bird, then get lazy on the details. (I will grant that the Gladiator and Swordfish are wonderfully lacking in "laziness".) Gemini, for all their faults (There are a couple.) seem to go that extra detail mile and just "feel" better to me. (Hobby Master also goes that extra mile imho.) I hope strong competition spurs Corgi to "step up" in general, as the Swordfish and Gladiator seem to attest. | |||||||||||||

Very much agree with you Timbo. The original Corgi molds were there first out there. Gotta give them their due. Yes, now some molds are a bit tired but much of the new stuff from Corgi is looking very good. Maybe they've gotten a bit of a wake-up. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi and Gemini Aces Fighters I got the Typhoon Mcgoon P40 today and its good right down to the prop markings. Corgi certainly milked this mould for all its worth. However what on earth is that thing in the cockpit???? Some alien . That has to come out of there. Now for some carefull twisting and pulling !!!!!!!! ![]() | |||||||||||||
