B-17 Nine o' Nine

Just got this one -- couldn't resist a great deal on the 'bay. (so far my clearing out the collection isn't going so well... for every two models I sell, I seem to be buying 1.5 )

I like it a lot as I've seen the Collings Foundation 1:1 in the air a few times and toured it once, and I lilke to collect models of preserved warbirds.

The dark shade of green and deep red do make me want to leave the model out in the sun for a week or so to get that bleeched effect you see on the real deal, but I will hold off...

I was a bit suprised to see the nose art was a "sticker" decal and not pad-printed... first Corgi I've seen that has this, or have I just been snoozing?

If you want to sell BOL let me know. LOL I'll have to check my 909's noseart. Nothing stood out when I looked at it, now you have me curious.

Re: B-17 Nine o' Nine

I also just picked up 2 B-17's from Ebay. The Memphis Belle and Sweet n Lovely for $160.00 including shipping!

That makes 7 Forts for me (Bit o' Lace , SnL, MB, Sentimental Journey, Nine o' Nine, Mount n' Ride & the Miss Minookie set). No more B-17's for me...at least one's made by Corgi. I think I might need an intervention!

Re: B-17 Nine o' Nine

Choate76 has been selling them for some time now on ebay. I got mine for $60 a few months back. The selling price has fluctuated between that and a high of $107. I noticed that he said he only has a few left so if you want one you better start bidding. He is still selling BOL, MnR and a few others.

Wow, thought I got a good deal at $75 Anyhow, this is one that's probably worth the full MSRP if you ask me, stickers and all it's a good-looking bird adn the figures are well-done, too.

Re: B-17 Nine o' Nine

Are you lot absolutely sure that 'nine O nine' has water slide decals for the nose-art? I'm not totally convinced (but probably wrong) as the nose-art on my model appears reasonably good, although it has what appears to be a 'sheen'/coating - if it is a water slide decal it's one of the better ones although the seams/gaps on the nose of the Corgi B17 play havoc with some of the small detail/artwork.

Generally, I would say that 'nine O nine' is one of the best of the Corgi litter of B17s although Sentimental Journey remains my personal favourite .

Without question Card -- you can see the clear border all the way around the decal and if you look closely at where the decal runs over the seams in the mold it is fairly obviously a sticker...

However, that said, it is very well applieda nd I don't really care that much. Seeing where it would fall on the mold it sort of makes sense that it's a sticker, as it would be quite tricky to pad print it I would think....
