Legends Gladiator

Can anyone fill me in on the newly released Legends Gladiator? Does this model come in the old bubble pack? I notice it comes on the old stand, so I assume the bubble is back (or never left, as I thought it had--celebration was premature ). It looks like a great model, but I also notice that Corgi's cheap alternative to the more expensive versions now costs as much as other single-engine models that come in boxes.

What gives?

Re: Legends Gladiator

When I saw that new release - it threw me off as well. $34.99 old stand? How much were the AA Gladiators and what are their 2007 list prices? Did the AA Gladiators have wire rigging and this model doesn't (not that familiar w/ gladiators)? Does this new verson just have less paint detail???

I'm as puzzled as you are.

I think you may be confusing Corgi's new 'Legends of Flight' range with the old (discontinued) 'Legends' line ...

And the difference being??

Looks like a Legends to me - same crappy plastic stand, but looking at the pictures on TFM it does come fully rigged.

I've just looked at the pictures at TFM and you're right about the Legends stand - perhaps this is the last of the original Legends line ...?

Re: Legends Gladiator

I'm not sure there is a big mystery to solve here. Just seems it's another way to give less and charge more. The Glad pond is getting dry here in the states. The other day a Finnish dio couldn't fetch $35 on the bay. Several places still have FHC in stock.

Good luck Pooch.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Legends Gladiator

$35 for the Finnish diorama? I'd buy one for that!

Re: Legends Gladiator

Update: I just saw the Legends Gladiator in person, at a hobby shop in Rockville, MD. It is packaged just like the previous Legends models in the clear plastic box. It appears to be just as detailed with rigging and nice paint job just like the regular AA models. The price was a bit high, at $44.00. So, the only real difference is the packaging, since the gear are fixed.

Re: Legends Gladiator

This just doesn't make any sense to me. For all intents and purposes the model is the same but the packing is different. Corgi is ripping us off!!

Re: Legends Gladiator

I'd say the retailer is trying to rip us off, not Corgi! That Gladiator can be had for a lot less than $44 if you shop around a bit!
