Re: Corgi delay's and production in general...

Thanks for that, Kabelace, but I do have one question/problem with this. Why does Corgi refer to their line-up as TOYS?

It may also have something to do with tariff charges for shipments in and out of Britain.

I've noticed that some of the odd small scales are trickling into TFM, with one new 1/72 (the Edwards-Marcianise, Italy Spit). However, the prevoius discussion seems to indicate very late arrivals (read, sever delays) in 2006 and 2007 deliveries (is their fiscal year June through June?). I'm assuming there will continue to be delays, so am ordering some of the planes from my Mule wish list. With luck, I may even be able to get a few new 1/400's.

Re: Corgi delay's and production in general...

I gripe as much as anybody when Corgi poops on the floor but I still can't take the Pooch to the pound. I love 'em too much. With many retailers selling AA fighters at $25-$30 still or even less on the bay and some offering free shipping, I just don't think the price point has gotten that out of control. Packaging counts with me some and I dig those freeky AA boxes with the little history and pics and stats on the aircraft. I know HM and Dragon come in 5 bucks cheaper or so, but is $5 gonna keep us form buying a model we love??? Corgi is still my #1 fix and I don't see where the @#$%* else we'd ever get a 1/72 bomber if it wasn't for them. Imagine: no Memphis Belle, no S for Sugar, PBJ, Heinkel.... I just can't. I want Corgi to make some changes for sure but I dare not forsaketh thee oh Pooch.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

The concern is not so much that we will forsaketh the pooch, but rather will the pooch ever forsaketh us (a la Matchbox) .

If I ran the world I wouldnt tell you either.. I would also short run one or two liveries to create demand and get more of you purchasing at Recommended Retail Price when they were launched, but hey, thats just mormal marketing stuff...

How deliciously evil!
No wonder I can't get some of the Dragons that I pass on later.

I think it was one of the Tigermeet jets and a German plane, can't remember exactly now.
I'm sure you can still get them on the 'bay', but I was talking about through normal retailers in OZ.

Check this out
Our exports to foreign countries may be limited by applicable tariffs and quotas.

Most of our products are shipped to customers in the U.S. and the U.K.. The U.S. and U.K. may, from time to time, impose new quotas, duties, tariffs, or other charges or restrictions, or adjust presently prevailing quota, duty or tariff levels, which could adversely affect our ability to continue to export products to the U.S. or U.K. at current or increased levels. We cannot predict what regulatory changes may occur, if any, or the type or extent of any financial impact on us that such changes may have in the future. In addition, various forms of protectionist trade legislation have been proposed in the U.S., the U.K. and the European Union. Adverse changes in tariff structures or other trade policies could have a material adverse effect on our business, financial condition and results of operations.

And here's another tidbit.

We face intense competition.

Our business and operating results depend largely upon the appeal of our toy products. Consumer preferences, particularly among collectors of die-cast vehicle model products, change constantly. In addition, the toy industry experiences significant, sudden shifts in demand caused by “hit” toys and trends, which are often unpredictable. We compete with many other toy companies, both large and small, which means that our market position is always at risk. In branded toys and collectibles, we compete with numerous companies with large intellectual property portfolios located all over the world including, but not limited to, Mattel, Hasbro, Funrise, Dragon, Armour/Franklin Mint, IXO, Model Power, Forces of Valor, and Die Cast Promotions. These companies have greater resources to develop new products and market their existing products.

Re: Corgi delay's and production in general...

Looks like the Pooch screwed it here to, might lead to some delays also in the future.

The title to a portion of our PRC land is impaired.

We have a 50-year lease to land use for our PRC-based factory supported by four land use certificates. All such land use certificates are valid and enforceable; however, Land Use Certificate for State-Owned Land, Dongguan Government State-Owned (1993) No. 49. has not been registered properly by the local PRC land title registry. This defect impairs our ability to sell such land use rights until when and if the local PRC land title registry corrects the registration. We are currently working with the local PRC land title registry to effect the rectification process, but cannot provide any assurances of when or if such rectification can be completed. This defect impairs not only our ability to sell the specific land in question, but the buildings upon the land as well.

I think someone forgot to grease a few palms over there and they are giving them a hard time.
