Ask me a year ago and I'd have been one of the people screaming for an Avenger. Ironically when they arrived in both the IXO and Hobby Master versions I didn't rush out and buy one. None of the first couple really excited me and I found other things to spend my money on. I also couldn't decided whether I liked the Hobby Master or Corgi Predators look better. When I finally decided I liked the Predators three tone aircraft from the USS Yorktown in 1945 it was already out of stock at my usual sources and more than I wanted to pay elsewhere

Well thanks to a sale at House of Hobbies I now have the Avenger I wanted. It is a nice model and quite a large aircraft. Lots of metal which leads to the one problem I ran into. The darn thing won't sit on the gear properly. If you want gear down you'll have to use some Elmer's on it. I couldn't do that as I have to keep it boxed for a bit. As a result the angle on the gear is totally wrong in these images. Sorry!

For the curious the ordinance pack includes a torpedo, rockets, and four bombs- look to be 250 pounders to me.

I can tell I'll have to get a few more Avengers. Need an earlier war version, something from the 1942 carrier battles in the Solomons would be nice. A sub hunter from the Atlantic and a few other nationalities too. Have to add at least a Fleet Air Arm version to go with my FAA Hellcats.

Looks good, but I'm just not sure I can pull the trigger again with regards to Corgi. I have both of President Bush's birds, and the HM version is so much better.
I'm also waitng for an Atlantic Avenger, the grey on white looks good on this one. Still its great to have some Avengers out there. I just look forward to more.

I have both a HM and a Corgi version and love them both. Never thought I'd ever buy one (let alone two) but once I saw them in person, I couldn't resist. I am very impressed by the heft of these planes as well as the detail.
