Re: Corgi JU-88 and P-38

As Harry said, they mounted all different caliber weapons. Look at the size of this gun.

You guys! Always worried about the size of your front gun! Geesh . . . enough with the Ju-88 envy!

Re: Corgi JU-88 and P-38

Here is another picture from a different angle. Plane looks real to me, can't swear about the gun.

Definitely a fake

This is the real thing...
Hendon German aircraft
the picture is dark and of a different model but the differences are obvious

Here is an improved version:

Re: Corgi JU-88 and P-38

I do think that the 2 models (P38 & JU88) are great.
  • CORGI's P-38 is offering a sturdy landing gear with rubber threaded tires that actually rotates and actually supports the weight of the model...unlike IXO version which really looked like a toy to me...so I got rid of it long ago...
  • I gave it to my son to play with...

Re: Corgi JU-88 and P-38

Look at the gear on the first JU-88 it is not real.
I am having a big e-bay sale soon lots of corgis will send a link tomorrow
Selling f-4's seakings, p-38's, UH-60's, stukas,p-40's some dragon and HM planes. Back to the opinion.......Corgi is hit and miss. I feel let down but some of you guys like them no prob to each his own. I am weeding out the so-so models and getting top-rate representations IMHO.

Re: Corgi JU-88 and P-38

I feel that the front cockpit gun is way out of scale compared to the upper rear MG's. The Ju-88 did mount a 20MM cannon in the front of the gondola on anti shipping strikes. If you compare the twin .50 calibres in the rear turret of the B-25 with the Ju-88's it gives you an idea of scale. Most German aircraft of the early war years mounted 7.92 calibre guns but I think Corgi got this one wrong.

I got my Ju88 after waiting for the price to come down a bit, well, as everyone has said, the front cockpit gun is wrong, but if u position it more horizontal position, unlike the vertical mast position shown in pictures, it looks not that bad.

So all in all, i still like my KG30 Ju-88 a lot, a gud addition to my Luftwaffe collection.

Yeah, so is that nasty attempt of a "JU-88" in that picture! Looks like some 4 year olds got together during art class for a 'paste and finger paint' session.

Funny the nose on this picture looks very different from all the JU I've seen in pictures.

I love Popov 80-P
