AA36801 Westland Lysander Mk.II (France 1940)

AA36801 NEW!
Westland Lysander Mk.II
225 Squadron RAF, France 1940
3370 produced | 8.25" (21cm) wingspan
A 1/72nd Scale Diecast model from the "BATTLE FOR THE LOW COUNTRIES" series by Corgi Classics

The British Westland Lysander was a slowflying high-wing two-seat monoplane, lightly armed, and designed pre-war to cooperate with the ground forces. No.225 Squadron was reformed on 11 October 1939 from No 614A Squadron (which had been formed from 'B' Flight of 614 Squadron eight days earlier) at Odiham. Its Lysanders were mainly used in Army exercises except for some coastal patrols conducted from June 1940. They were easy targets for German fighters and suffered heavy losses in France and Belgium. Used initially as ground support aircraft, they were soon relegated to second line duties, where the STOL capabilities of the aircraft were used to their full potential.

Re: AA36801 Westland Lysander Mk.II (France 1940)

Mark,

Thanks for the great photos of this superb Lysander which I have on order along with it's desert twin. Because of your mouth watering snaps of the Galland 109 and the fab P-38 my 'plastic' is going to take another hammering this month! With a large amount of new aircraft due this year from all the major manufacturers space is going to be a problem. I got rid of all my Minichamps armour to make room for more aircraft last year and I'm running out of space again. Is there a counselling service available for us die cast addicts?

Is there a part missing from centre section of wing or is it part of the rear canopy?

Re: AA36801 Westland Lysander Mk.II (France 1940)

There is no centre section of the Lizzies wing the canopy framing doubles as the main spar, looks like this one needs the rear canopy added.wonder if its removable with open and closed choices.

Lysanders of 231 Sqn over Northern Ireland ,they were stationed in Newtownards and I now live on what was the stations domestic site.

There should be a center section that is attached to the rear canopy.. I think Mark just didn't put it on..

No counseling, but we are allying with a general contractor to help you with your home expansion needs.

More of those snaps to come in most of the existing threads.

I only saw one canopy piece in the box of either of the Lysanders. If that canopy piece is attached you cannot affix the ladder.

Re: AA36801 Westland Lysander Mk.II (France 1940)

I think it's part of the rear canopy.

But is it two parts? It would be nice to display it with the rear canopy open but if it is one piece that also covers the "centre section" then it looks a bit silly.

The rear canopy is only one piece and it includes the center section..
