US36603NEW!
Lockheed P-38J Lightning "Scat II"
Captain Robn Olds, 434th Fighter Squadron / 20th Fighter Group Wattisham, August 1944
2010 produced | 7" (17.8cm) wingspan
A 1/72nd Scale Diecast model from Corgi Classics

This P-38 was one of the few in the 479th FG that retained its olive drab scheme right up until the unit transitioned to the P-51D in September, 1944. The red rudder was adopted in place of the 434th Fighter Squadron's geometric symbol around the time of D-Day. Robin Olds flew at least two P-38Js during his initial months of combat with the 479th Fighter Group, this aircraft almost certainly being the last of them.

This P-38 is really sweet!!! I picked mine up today and it is an excellent piece..

And, if I am not mistaken, this is the same plane featured in the "Dogfight" series..

You'll notice that this picture is a little different color. I had to change one of my light bulbs in the middle of the shoot and I was out of my regular bulbs. The models a little more green than this.

I like this paint job, and will likely buy it. One wonders what it is with Corgi and P-38 superchargers, though...

Are they really the bad?
The details ok, right? It's just the color everyone up in arms about?

I don't think they are bad.. I mean, the 1st time Corgi made them rusty brown or caramel color and everyone griped, so this time they make them steel color and people still aren't happy..

Yes, it's only the color. I appreciate efforts to correct the weirdness of the color, but going from carmel brown to grey is probably further from the actual color...
