I don't think they are bad.. I mean, the 1st time Corgi made them rusty brown or caramel color and everyone griped, so this time they make them steel color and people still aren't happy..

Just wait until you see the fushia and the lime-green version ...comming soon to a P-38 for you.

I just compared the turbo-chargers on mhackl's excellent pictures with the turbo-chargers on my Matchbox Robin Old's P-38. The size and shape are correct. It's the color that is not accurate. Matchbox made their's a burnt metal color (a combination of metallic grey with black). When I used to make plastic models, I used to paint my P-38 turbo-chargers either metallic charcoal grey or a burnt copper. I think Corgi's color is still too light. With that, I'm still waiting for their California Cutie to come out as well as Pudgy IV from the Warbirds series.

Here is a pic of the superchargers on the real thing.. They aren't metallic, but a rusty carmel color..

Re: US36603 Lockheed P-38J Lightning "Scat II"

The color of the Supercharger did not stop me from buying the Olds P-38.
Corgi tried to correct it when we all said the Bong P-38 wasn't right color.
Besides to some of us like myself that is really not a big issue and if you don't like the color re-paint how you would like it.
We all have a different taste of how they should look.

It wasn't the color that bothered me so much as it was the taste of them....

Nice Skunky. I bet you ate crayons too as a kid. As for the colors of the charger, I think that they are o.k. They could be a little darker, but it woul dnot turn me off from buying it. I bought the Bong, and I like it. My only gripe is the nose wheel. Not a fan of how they did the wheel hub. That said, I still love it.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: US36603 Lockheed P-38J Lightning "Scat II"

I got my Scat II P-38 Lightning and i like it very much.
I have it on the display stand next to the Marge P-38J that came out a few months back.
Corgi did a good job with this Lightning IMHO.
I can overlook the little things such as stencils and turbo chargers color.
You gotta love the D-Day stripes on this plane
