Re: Corgi's motives

I have dozens of models and can only think of one that I bought from a dealer in Australia. As the RRP for say a Corgi B-17 is AU $295 (US $225) downunder, I guess that comes as no surprise to most.

Consequently I have only bought one Corgi model locally which was a Corgi Legend, the majority of the remainder were bought via eBay. I have only bought off one internet seller being twice from The Flying Mule, and then it was only during their sales.

I have been collecting diecast for over 30 years now and if there is one thing I have learnt - it is patience

However all of my Dragon models were purchased in Australia because there is little price advantage in buying Dragon from overseas. Which suggests to me that Corgi are charging way to much RRP. Until they realise this simple fact they will always be chasing their little doggie tail.

I have to say that when it comes to most of Corgis output I wait untill they become de-certified, I have just ordered AA35010 @ £17.25 opposed to a certified version at £39.99.
Of course when it comes to the much anticipated Battle of Britain Ju88 & hopefuly at some time in the not too distant future a 110 night fighter I will willingly pay something like the RRP.

I tend to agree with Aircrafty on this - patience is an excellent quality to have when collecting. The "I want it all and I want it now" approach tends to not bring much satisfation and can be ruinous to budgeting. Finding the right piece at the right price (bargain ) also adds to the thrill of the die-cast chase .

(I also buy my Dragon products locally as it's not worthwhile buying them from overseas. Corgi on the other hand always has to 'fly the distance' ... )

Ya know, Cardo- this is undoubtably going to ruin your reputation forever, but that statement pretty much sums up the way I feel about this whole diecast collecting thing to a "T".................................Sorry,Cardo. I hope this doesn't change things between us.

Actually Skunky, it's your reputation that you should be more concerned about - being in agreement with 'the establishment' (aka 'da man') could spell all sorts of potential role confusion for you ...

... and once again, in a galaxy far, far away, harmony and a sense of peace was once more restored to the universe (that is apart from Gort ripping apart subspace with his quantum slipstream hot-rod ).

Re: Corgi's motives

I'LL still buy Corgi. They are the greater proportion of my collection. I pre-ordered 30 + models last year, as the delivery dates slid, so did my desire to continue the wait. I cancelled all but a few. My point being. I will resist pre-ordering. The advantage of that is flexibility to look what's on tap from other manufacturers. It's my plastic, my choice. If I like what I see from Corgi I will purchase it as an in stock item only. If I miss it......well tough titty
