Corgi to make a F-82 Twin Mustang???

I heard a rumor from an undisclosed source that Corgi was going to do a F-82 Twin Mustang. I wonder how well that will look??

Re: Corgi to make a F-82 Twin Mustang???

The twin Mustang wasn't really two Mustangs tied together, but a whole new design. Lets hope (if all this comes about) that they don't try to tie two existing Bubbletop models together and call it a day...

Either way Stalag8611 should be happy with it.

Re: Corgi to make a F-82 Twin Mustang???

Shawn 507,
Hey there.

What is the source of the rumor? I think it would be a great idea, but I cannot see them doing it. Who is going to buy it, other than us diehards, and will they be able to find six liveries that are viable? Sounds pretty far fetched to me.

Anything for a weird life.

Peace amd tranquility in all things, that's my goal. An F-82 would be great and, like everyone else who signs in here, would like to see Corgi fix that damn cowling.

Re: Corgi to make a F-82 Twin Mustang???

If true, it sounds like Corgi is fishing for ideas for some more Korean War era birds. I would suggest the Mig-15, F9F Panther, F-84 Thunderjet, F4U-4/5, F2H Banshee or F-80 as suitable models. I would include the good ole A-1, but it sounds like GA has that one covered...

Re: Corgi to make a F-82 Twin Mustang???

If I remember correctly, you wouldn't be able to join two of the existing castings due to the engine differences if for no other reason. Didn't the Twin use an improved & supercharged version of the Allison power plant?

While Corgi's got their moneys worth out of the "D" Mustang tooling I think that it's close to the end of it's life. Evidently, diecast tooling has a rather short life span and Corgi must have shot 100,000 units off of the "D" tooling. Now, while I would think that what ever new mustang tooling they produced they'd do it in a fashion that would attempt to atone for the previous Mustangs sins, but then there's the new "B" model.

I like Corgi's models. They've provided me with a great deal of satisfaction over the years so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.........for now.

If the Twin Pony happens, I'm in!
