B-17 quality issues

I'm thinking about purchasing my first B-17 and was wondering if the gaps in the nose area are all consistent with each type/model. From what I saw, they are and are quite huge at that. Can anyone comment on this?

Anything else I should ask the dealer to look over before I make that purchase?

Thanks

Re: B-17 quality issues

I have Yankee Doodle, Memphis Belle and 909. I don't see where the gaps are that bad if at all. Of those three I can say you wont be disappointed. I don't have Bit O Lace yet, so I can't say.

Re: B-17 quality issues

From my observations, the gaps seem to be primarily on the "G" models...I notice none on Memphis Belle, which is an "F".

Re: B-17 quality issues

I have 9-0-9 and Mount-n-ride and neither have unsightly gaps in the nose, but they also might not be so obvious on O/D planes..

Re: B-17 quality issues

I have Yankee Doodle, and one that is all OD with R OR on the side, offhand can't remember it's name or title, and neither of them have gaps like you describe.

Re: B-17 quality issues

I'm thinking of getting "2nd Patches" and was just wondering.

Thanks for the help.

Ah but I see your after Mount and Ride too. Hee Hee I like that one myself but have decided (yea right) to limit myself to four B-17s. So Bit O Lace will be my final one. Then off to round out the B-24 collection.
