Best Corgi 2006 Release

O.k. so now that 2006 is over I am curious to know which single(1) model by Corgi either mold or livery was they very best in your opinion. I am only looking for one model, the one you think made Corgi stand out against the rest. Please explain why-
My vote is the Swordifsh.
The guy wires were a realistic touch.
The folding wings were innovative.
The crew figures looked nearly human.
I had no QC problems.
The pontoon version was the 1st 1/72 of it's kind.

This model made me re-think my opinion of Corgi this year.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

I think that I would have to agree with you there Louie. The mold is great , I have 3 of them the Bismarck, Float plane and just received the CC version and not a thing wrong with any of them. Seeing these beauties and the job that Corgi did with the Gladiators I can't what for the WWI molds to come out.
The only thing that I don't agree with you there is that yes 2006 the year is over but still waiting for the release of the Typhoon and Lysander, that were suppose to be out this year. Are they still classed as 2006 releases or been move to 2007 releases officially?

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

Louie,
Gotta agree with you on this one. All four are now gracing my shelves although my favourite is the very sinister looking Coastal Command version with fully laden bomb racks and radar radome.

The one I'm really waiting on is the aircraft that Lt.Cdr Esmonde flew when he won his posthumous Victoria Cross in 1942. A brave Irishman along with Finucane, Beamish, and their many other fellow countrymen who did not survive the War.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

I agree, Corgi hit a home run with all 4 releases (I have 3), and I am considering getting one in 07' as well..

I have all four Swordfish; my vote for the best would be the silver one.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

I was thinking planes that came out from Jan 1st 2006 to today. In the beginning the silver would have been my last choice but in person it became my favorite of the bunch!

I've got to say the Swordfish, by a mile... any livery.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

I agree... the Corgi Swordfish and Gladiator models represent a leap in quality that bears noting. Great models; I have 3 of the Swordfish and 2 of the Gladiators. Hope for more early war and pre-war biplanes in the future.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

Ditto on the Swordfish! The Bismarck version has the place of honor among my collection on the bookshelf... If only I had space to spare, I'd get more!

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

I agree with all of you...The best of 2006 Corgi release was in fact the Swordfish.
I have the latest livery they made and it's very well done.
