Swordfish gets my vote also. Never thought I'd get one but seeing is believing and I had to pick one up - might cave and get a second as well.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

Blimey - unquestionably, a unanimous vote then, so far.

I've gotta agree that the Swordfish is nothing less than a 1/72nd scale Die-cast masterpiece.

I've only got two at the moment........

The Floatplane (H.M.S. Malaya) - which I only gave £ 26 for..... &

The 'Silver' Ark Royal 1938/2005 Historic flight a/c, for which (my wife) gave a ridiculously low £ 19, from an E-bay 'Buy it Now' trader.

The rigging is just superb & sets it off, PLUS the overall dimensions look good, with no nasty join lines & excellent paint & markings.
Overall, it's got to be considered Corgi's 'piece de resistance', their finest offering yet.

I'll get the others - the 'Black' one flew/(based) from a Coastal Command airfield which is only two villages away from where I'm typing this right now, so it's certainly topical for me.

Can't split hairs & say which individual one though.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

Will agree, it's the Swordfish. Quite simply an incredible model, approaching that of a master modeller. I've got the float version, but I'm sure I'll pick up one or two more. The neatest thing about this 'unlikely' model is that it truly exemplifies the 'little guy' who overcame the odds to achieve incredible results. It's a proper model to represent the daring bravery of the pilots & crew who flew them.

A+++++ Corgi.

At the risk of being burned in effigy, I'd have to say the PBY Snafu Snatchers is my favorite Corgi of 2006.

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

The only thing that I don't agree with you there is that yes 2006 the year is over but still waiting for the release of the Typhoon and Lysander, that were suppose to be out this year. Are they still classed as 2006 releases or been move to 2007 releases officially?

Well, in my view, they are not released yet, and it is now 2007......

Yes the Cats are quite nice also. I have 2, the first release Pembroke docks and just picked up the CC one. Kind of disappointed with the CC version, no guns or gunner in the front turret, even though it is shown quite clearly on the box. Like the diorama though. Interested in the Black Cat but I really want the rescue version coming out in 07 and they are quit big.
Sorry if I went off thread there, me bad

Re: Best Corgi 2006 Release

My Snafu Snatchers Cat would be my favorite release of 2006 but the best done release of 2006 would have to be the swordfish

I love the Swordfish and think it is the best release, with the BlackCat probably coming in a close second..
