B-29 -- how good is Corgi's 1:144?

Last edited by PappyB : 06-10-2007 at 09:39 PM.
Hey All,

After watching a history channel special on the B-29 last night, I'm thinking I'll need to dive into 1:144 scale to add one to the hangar... I've only a B-52 and Memphis Belle in this scale, any opinions out there from owners of Corgi's 1:144 29s? I'd like a regular workhorse livery, rather than the atomic bomb droppers...

And what about Dragon's versions? How do they compare to Corgi? (this scheme looks nice...)

Thanks!

I'd say they're both pretty good they both have thier strengths and weaknesses. If you'd want a corgi one I'd sell you my atomic tom cheap.

Pappy, Corgi's B-29s are a hideous abomination...(notice how Tyler is eager to sell you his cheap)...I could elaborate in great detail but I would suggest you just check out Tricatus and see for yourself..

....Draggin's B-29s on the other hand are gems. If you really don't want a Silverplate bird, I would wait on the release of Look Homeward Angel. But you know how Draggin' is - the wait could be eternal....Wouldn't waste a dime on any of Corgi's Superforts though...

I got my father a 1/144 Dragon B-29 and i think they look a little better then the Corgi B-29's.
The nose area look's alot better on the Dragon B-29 IMHO.

I like the dragon ones better as well. I think Corgi messed up the nose pretty bad. Hey Starman, I like that little sign off.

Re: B-29 -- how good is Corgi's 1:144?

Pappy, after reading Skunky's commentary and checking out Tricatus' site, I went and immediately unearthed my Corgi B-29 "Enola Gay". I paid extremely close attention to the nose section vis the Tricatus photos. Tricatus got screwed if you compare his model to mine, no doubt about that. I can't respond to Skunky's "hideous" comment since beauty is often in the eyes of the beholder. I really like mine and I'm keeping it. Not for Sale.

Re: B-29 -- how good is Corgi's 1:144?

I have only the Corgi Enola Gay. I like it alot wish the glazed noze had been done more neatly but found small details like tail guns better than draggins. I think they both have their strengths and weeknesses. If there are any among us that can put a Draggin B-29 and a Corgi together in a couple of photos I think it would solve this problem and perhaps cause me to switch to the lizards version.....Draggins has a much better nose. It just seemed like Corgi had a few more small details that caught my eye.

Re: B-29 -- how good is Corgi's 1:144?

I don't collect 1:144, I want a 1:72, so I say pox on both Draggin' AND Corgi (tho if I WERE to buy one, it would be a Draggin', the nose of the Corgi looks awful in the pictures).

Heck, I'd love a 1:72 version, too, but I seriously doubt we'll ever see one... I think I'll wait on the upcoming Dragon 1:144 version, if it ever comes out
