Re: Corgi/resale/ebay/hobby ???

I never buy as an investment. I buy what I like and enjoy. I cannot imagine ever selling any of my models. I am happy to buy decerts also. I have two Me109 1/32 decerted models and yep they are just the same as certified!!! Sky says it part of his reward system, I like that but I wonder what her indoors would make of it? Reward for what I hear her say. I admit that there is a certain delight in picking up a bargain from ebay. I am trying to build up my collection and have had some good purchases from ebay. I also admit to checking the prices of the types I own just to see if the price is going up or down. Corgi Mustangs Thunderbolts and Corsairs seem to be static. But Spits some P40s and Me109s seem to slowly increase in price. I am kicking myself for not buying B24s. There was a whole bunch on sale a while back at really silly prices. Its all good fun and part of the hobby each to his own way and the more the merrier.

God Bless America.

Collecting

I never buy as an investment. I buy what I like and enjoy. I cannot imagine ever selling any of my models. I am kicking myself for not buying....

I am taking a break from doing Christmas cards. I had to see what was happening with this thread.

It is great--and a microcosm of all the collecting I have ever done. I used to collect coins--and really got to the point that they were too valuable to keep in the house. Can you imagine going to the bank to look at your favorite silver Mustang!? O joy! O joy! I have them all over my little space here in the condo--at least in the spaces allocated to me. I,too, started with eBay, always looking to make the most for the buck. I had hits and misses. I can find most of what I need from my own little eBay Forum Exchange fellows.

The only disappointment I have had--and maybe it, too, reflects the market, is trying to move the Model Power items I no longer need for my collection. I may try to put them on eBay--as I got most of them from the UK as Del Prado.

So, back to cards (I am always late with them). And thanks for this great thread. I thought two years ago I would collect everything. Did I learn!

PS: I did have a hard time finding the Twilight Tear, despite what some think (ill) of it. I needed it for my collection, and found a dealer in the UK.

PPS: I recently went to a coin show--after I sold my last collection of pristine Kennedy halves and silver dollars to buy--diecast metal planes. Am I stupid?? But the coins I once had are looking so silly now, as the market has driven out so many little collectors to buying slab coins, those fancy coins encased in plastic and already graded. Imagine my not being to pick up No Guts, No Glory and spin that propeller--if it were encased in a slabe of plastic!

I LOVE THIS HOBBY--and talking about things like Kepford, and Preddy, and watching Dogfights on History Channel. How cool is all this! What an investment!

I buy mostly for the enjoyment, and also somewhat of an investment.. It is nice to know that my hobby isn't worthless and that I am not throwing money away on something that I can't give away a few years from now (Unlike my NASCAR collection).. I also appreciate the fact that I can buy a plane, keep it a few years, sell it for 2-3x what I paid for it and buy even more diecast to keep feeding my addiction..

(BTW, anyone need 1/24 NASCAR stuff.. CHEAP!!)
