Corgi and defects

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I've enlarged my current collection of Corgis with my first bomber. It's the CC Vickers Wellington. Very nice model in my opinion. I noticed though that on the upper half of the tail there are two antennae but one seems to be bent a bit more upwards than the other. I tried bending it myself but realized that it's on there pretty tight as it is made of metal. Is this considered to be a bad defect or is this indeed how the plane should have it? I'm asking because I don't have much experience with Corgi and their standards. I did get the model for only $45 on ebay though, a bargain considering what I've seen it selling for in regular hobby stores.

I appreciate any insight on this.

Thanks

Re: Corgi and defects

In the UK you can buy it for £30 in the Modelzone, and there are plenty in stock so you can choose an unbent one. I will be probably getting one eventually as I collect the Wellington.

I'm suprised you can't bend those aerials back into position, I have done so on my Malta Wellington (which is essentially the same). Another defect that most find with the CC Welly is that the nose seems too empty.

Take a look at my pictures, I have ones of both the Malta and the Burna Wellingtons.

Re: Corgi and defects

I would think you could bend it into place if you are careful.. Here is Tricatus' weblink, and you might see if you can tell for yourself..

Re: Corgi and defects

I'll try bending it again. Perhaps I didn't apply enough pressure last time, although it does seem like it's on there pretty firm since it's metal.

Re: Corgi and defects

Mine is like that as well I have tried to bend it back several times but stopped because it would bend over to the opposite side.

Keep'em flying.

I'm not sure that we're talking about the same part. I'm referring to the two small antennae on the top of the tail.

Re: Corgi and defects

My God! How did those get bent?

Looking in the Tricatus archive those antennae are quite large, larger than that of any other Wellington. They seem to join the tailfin at a square socket although I can't be sure.

In that case, you might do best to write to corgi and ask for a new part if it bothers you that much. Or you could snap it off and glue it back in the right position, perhaps thats a little drastic!

Re: Corgi and defects

I've got the PO•S Lancaster with the mass balance details sagging on only the left sides of each rudder. Totally detracts from the model. If I had seen that when I bought it, I wouldn't have. I hesitate to try and bend these back, as the rudders are rather light construction as it is.

That is about the only flaw I have experienced with all the other 20+ Corgi models I have bought.

Are you referring to mine or to Kaptin Kirk's?
