Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

For me Dick Bong's and Tommy McGuire's P-38's are a must have. I'm more into the historical/pilot significance than what paint scheme. I like Olds too but I'm limiting my P-38's to the Pacific theatre.

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

We even saw the Memphis Belle turn up there a while back. Now look what they go for.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

Anyone???????????????????????

I think you can look back at other "high" run items and judge for yourself:

#49002 Bader Spit (6900)
#49204 Marseilles Bf-109 (4600)
#49205 Werra Bf-109 (5100)
#AA31903 Donald Duck Spit (4000)
#AA32101 Wespen Bf-109 (4100)
#AA32602 BBMF Lancaster set (5600)

All of these were considered HUGE runs at the time and are now some of the most sought after planes produced by Corgi..

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

I have one on order and that is all I will be getting of the Marge, I collect for myself not as an investment. Aces are always first on my list over paint scheme and type, so Marge was always a must have for me.

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

I think you need to have a P-38J of Richard Bong because he is after all our highest scoring Ace during WWII.
Plus Corgi did a outstanding job on this Lightning.
I think in a few years some people are going to regret not getting them when they had the chance.

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

I seem to remeber this same conersation n the B-17 Memphis Belle not that long ago. I had to get the Bong P-38, eventhough I have the Franklin Mint one, because well... I have no good reason, but I needed it.

Re: "Marge" P-38 supply/demand - Survey

My 'Marge' P-38 will complement my 'Pacific' collection. How can you not have the top ace in your collection?. I've been waiting for this model for years. It's livery may not suit all tastes but historically. 'It's a must have.' Swoop.

Have not seen a scheme I like yet so I am waiting a while, but I will buy at least one.
