USA US32228 NEW! North American P-51D-5 Mustang 44-13303 Major James Goodson, 336TH FS/4TH Fighter Group, Debden, Essex, 1944 Second Quarter 2007 Having seen action with the RAF’s No. 133 Sqn. (which later became the 336th FS) prior to the establishment of the 4th FG in September 1942, Goodson was one of the most experienced and highest-scoring American pilots in the ETO on the morning of D-Day. He had claimed 15 strafing kills and 14 aerial victories by the time he fell to flak in this very Mustang while strafing the German airfield at Neubrandenberg on June 20, 1944. CO of the 336th FS at the time of his demise, Goodson spent the rest of the war as a POW.

USA US33821 NEW! Republic P-47D-25 Thunderbolt 42-26455 1st Lt. Kenneth Chetwood, 350th Fighter Squadron / 353rd Fighter Group, Raydon, Suffolk, June 1944 First Quarter 2007 One of the first “bubbletop” P-47Ds received by the 353rd FG, this aircraft was delivered to the group’s Raydon base on the eve of D-Day. It was assigned to 1st Lt. Kenneth Chetwood, who was universally known as “Choo Choo” to his squadronmates because of his penchant for shooting German trains. This was the last of five P-47s assigned to Chetwood. The fighter remained with the 350th FS until its conversion to Mustangs in October 1944. It was salvaged the following month.

USA US33821 NEW! Lockheed P-38J-10 Lightning 42-67916 1st Lt. Richard Loehnert, 55th Fighter Squadron / 20th Fighter Group, Kings Cliffe, Northhamptonshire July 1944 First Quarter 2007 Assigned to the 55th FS from November 1943 to November 1944, Dick Loehnert flew 70 missions and 300 hours during his combat tour. A fair number of these flights were performed at the controls of this long-lived P-38, which bore one of the largest mission tallies ever seen on a USAAF fighter in the ETO. The P-38 completed 56 escort missions (top hat and cane), 16 top-cover missions (umbrella) and 11 sweeps (broom), while the six locomotives beneath the canopy were for strafing credits and the two swastikas denoted two Bf 109s shot down by Loehnert on July 7, 1944.

Ya, I see there's a pilot in the P-38, but this is a pre-pro so... Be great if Corgi does start manning those Warbirds though!

| Re: Corgi 2007 Releases: D-Day Museum Series (Aviation Archive)
I would have to assume so. Granted these are "Soft-Tooled" prototypes, but they would've had to of made a deliberate effort to have included them. It cost us over $5000.00 to make a very simple canopy change in our Eagles line so what you see has likely been well planned.
