I just got Memphis Belle, now a question

I gave the Mrs. the "puppy dog eyes" and the "Its a rare one" speach, and well I got Memphis Belle off of E-bay today. So the question is, which fighter is the more accurate escort? Thunderbolts or Mustangs?
909 and Yankee Doodle took up some space and I had to bump the Dragon P-51Ds down with those two. I'll have room on the GA Mustang shelf, and just barely enough on my Thunderbolt shelf.
Strawberry Bitch and Sleepy Time Gal have my Dragon North African Wildcat, Spitfire, Corgi P-40 and GA US Spitfire as escorts.

I have my P-47 with my Memphis Belle it looks better ....You can also see my P-38 under her wing....I have that plane there so my Dad don't find it and take off with it
like he does with my other planes....Good place to hide it... Hope he does not see this post......

Re: I just got Memphis Belle, now a question

Actually no escort is accurate. They did it with no fighter escort in the ol' days. At the end of the documentary, I believe that Spitfires are seen peeling off as the Belle flies over head. I can't wait until she is out of the restoration shop, and on display.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I reckon it would be the P-47. Don't think the Mustang was operating yet. Wikipedia says the B/C's arrived in England in August/October respectively 1943.
But I would agree escort would be split by P-47's and spitfires. I'm sure it didn't take the 7 months to realize the bombers were getting creamed by themselves

Well for now she'll fly with 909 and the P-51Ds plus one P-38.
