PBJ-1J pics

Here's a few pics of PBJ-1J BuNo 52843, VMB-433, Marine Air Group 61, Solomon Island Chain, 1944 Flight Line Collection US35307.
Not a bad model markings are very plain just a bit of nose art, but had to get this one because of the nose guns. Missed out on Bats and not to keen on Bats colours. Kind of having the B-24 thing happening with the gap at the nose. This is my first 1/72 flight line model and the figures that come with the model are outstanding, wish Corgi would sell 1/72 figure sets.

Cool Re: PBJ-1J pics

Thanks for posting the pics Kabelace. I reckon that this is one of the most desirable B25s I've seen! It even beats out the RAF bird. Very nice!

They are Jarheads not Picasso's , probably had to hunt high and low for someone with that much talent.
Will now take cover as the assault begins.

I think only the center one should have any flexibility to it as it was operated by the bombardier...I'm pretty sure the other four were operated from the cockpit and should be fixed pretty much straight ahead.....but I could be wrong......

Re: PBJ-1J pics

I have seen B-25's with the guns aimed that way. I don't know how this aircraft was outfitted, but the guns were angled for ground attack.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: PBJ-1J pics

The guns on mine are straight just as those on Bats are straight. The also are a bit flexible - hard rubber - on mine and could be straightened if needs be without damaging the model.

Re: PBJ-1J pics

I read an article a few years ago about a staff officer at 5th AF during WWII. He had this idea to mount guns sideways out of a B-25. Then the pilot would just have to make a pylon turn around a target in order to keep continual fire on it. Kenney vetoed it as too radical. The idea, of course, was resurrected later, and is known as a gunship - AC-47, AC-119, and AC-130.

After veto of the gunship idea, the same officer came up with the idea of angling the frontal guns down so that strafing would end up with the aircraft hitting the ground.
