Re: Pics: The Rodney Dangerfield of Corgi's Heavy Lineup?

I like Yankee Doodle for its history, and the big U.S. ARMY under the wings. She ain't the prettiest bird, but she was one of the first. And I found the missing ball turret gun in the box, so she is all better now.

Has anyone ever tried replacing a propeller before. I'd like to know that it can be done before I commit myself.

Wespen, you mean the only thing standing in the way of having yourself committed is whether or not a propeller on a diecast bomber can be replaced?......My goodness man, you need help!.....

Worse case no, best case yes. Third option, buy a decent model and use its props for all 4 engines. There may even be aftermarket props out there for models. I do wonder why there are no markings on the Corgi big boy props.

Re: Pics: The Rodney Dangerfield of Corgi's Heavy Lineup?

Speaking of another Corgi Eighth Air Force heavy,

What do people here think of the "Yankee Doodle" b-17 (I may be able to pick one up cheap because it is damaged)

I'm assuming I can get a new propeller from corgi spares and replace the old one with it.

Oh, and where is "Tuesday Morning"?

It's OK - Not my favorite, but currently it's the only US "E" version (The Java one I believe will be an "E" as well.

Why buy a broken model - you should be able to pick up a perfect one of these fairly cheap - They do not seem popular at all.

Ooops!

Re: Pics: The Rodney Dangerfield of Corgi's Heavy Lineup?

Hey folks,

I like the Yankee Doodle B-17. Many folks absolutely loathe it, but there are quite a few that really like it as well.

She seems like one of those birds that is always going to be available and be available (relatively) inexpensively. The production run was 2600, which will keep them on hand, especially since opinion is so divided on the bird.

Unless the price for the damaged model is SO GOOD you cannot pass, wait for an undamaged one to turn up.

You might also want to check out Tricatus's site to get a better view of the bird. (By the way, where has he been?)

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Pics: The Rodney Dangerfield of Corgi's Heavy Lineup?

OK thanks for your advice,

I have set my sights on the Corgi Herritage Centre 'Battle Weary' Me-109. I'll get the opportunity to buy one of these very rare birds although I don't know how much the seller will ask for it.

CLASSIFIED INFORMATION: The ebay seller daran6795 will shortly be auctioning off their entire Corgi. It includes every Luftwaffe plane that was ever made, oh except for the Flying Mule FW-109 (which I bought) and possibly that 109.

I also have the Yankee Doodle and think it is unique because of the history of the plane and I also like the "US ARMY" on the bottom but still would love to get my hands on the Belle!
