P-38 guessing game, continued

Noticed TFM is now listing the Bong P-38 as the featured expected-this-month product. This usually means the product is here or about to arrive. We may see this today or tomorrow...hope, hope, hope...

The wait is about over - I know at least one retailer in CA who has the Bong in stock. Bring on the P-38's!

I had one in my hands today at my local hobby store and put it back. I love the P-38 and Dick Bong is the all-time leading US ace but I could not get over the plain jane (or plain Marge) paint scheme - not for $40.

I usually collect only 1 or 2 (max) of each model that makes my must have list so I am sort of picky with paint schemes. I will wait for one with a little more pizzaz.

FYI - Fit and finish appeared to be pretty good - even in nose area.

Re: P-38 coming soon?

I really like the Bong P-38 but at that price I think I'm going hold it down to just one and get the Robin Olds...

I collect on a budget (damn Mortgage and car payments...and college funds...and 401K...) so I need to be picky in what I buy. Nothing wrong with the model, just too plain for my tastes.

But I will say this, it seems that more than a few of Corgi's P-38 choices seem a bit dull and I suspect they will not be hot sellers (so I may pick them up on sale down the road). California Cutie and Haleakala are pretty sweet but what's with Pat III (AA36607) and AA36606? There's got to be better choices out there. And why in the world would you make Pudgy IV a Warbird Edition???? I just don't understand these Diecast companies sometimes - I'm pretty sure anyone in our forum could make better choices! OK, I am off my soap box....
