Re: FM exclusive P-51B has arrived..

It's a syndrome that I grapple with on a daily basis .
I never seem to satisfy my craving or need to acquire more diecasts even after I've already splurged on some! Now I know why they call it an "addiction".

[quote=HotTrap429;69819]If the camera lens "often foreshortens objects", then why doesn't this effect the appearance of Gemini and Dragon's Mustangs? They look right. Must be Martin uses a different camera only for Corgi models.

I have 15 P-51s [B thru K]: 6 Corgi, 2 Gemini, 2 Dragon Wings and 5 Easy Models. With the exception of the Easy Model "5", which as a Phillistine I happen to like, I'm going to measure, as accurately as possible, the distance from the front, lower edge of the cockpit, to the tip of the nose of the other issues. The real question will be: how closely did Stalag measure? A 32nd of an inch, a a 128th of an inch, or should I break out my micrometer amd go for measurements in ten thousandths of an inch? That should address the"nose is too short" and "Corgi is cheating the consumer" issues one more time. Fat Chance.

Hey, HotTrap, you appear to have heavy issues with Corgi. I don't, and buy what I can afford. Since I'm retired my wife thinks anything I buy is too damn expensive. Whenever possible I bargain shop and I've picked up some very good stuff at $$ General prices. Pax

I agree 100% - We all buy what we like and can afford. Being an elementary school teacher who only gets paid 10 months out of the year, my wife would agree with you - anything I buy is too expensive. I just don't buy into the Corgi mystique that everything they make is worth what they charge and I must rush out and buy everything they make. Actually of my 113 models, 77 of them are Corgi models including 4 Mustangs. I love my Corgi B-17s, B-24s, Stukas, P-40s, Corsairs, and P-47s - just got the Mule Gentile special edition P-47 and two F-4s. My "heavy issues" with Corgi is their pricing (on the high side for their AA models compared to other manufacturers) and the inconsistency of their product - some good (P-47, P-40, Fw190), some bad (P-51), some fabulous (Swordfish, B-24), some basic and unremarkable (Warbirds, some Legends). I do agree they make some great models and on the secondary market you can pick many of them up at a great price. That's why I'll wait on this Mustang even though I love the high gloss silver with the invasion stripes..

Everything is removeable, wurger....it's just putting them back on that can sometimes be daunting.......

Re: FM exclusive P-51B has arrived..

wurger_high,
I'm betting they are not. Corgi tends to make their moulds in one piece, no removable drop tanks or whatever. Granted, I have hope that they might be, but not expectation.....

Anything for a weird life.

Re: FM exclusive P-51B has arrived..

With all the controversy over this model, I've decided I'm just gonna have to buy one. I wasn't going to do two silver B Mustangs will full invasion stripes, but what the hay. I'll take a couple of side-by-side photos then put the two next to each other on the shelf. I do like the glossy finish on the Corgi as it looks like polished aluminum. The Gemini finish looks like silver paint.

Looks like I may end up with more Mustangs than P-40s. Better not let Jim find out about this.
