AA99190- 1/144th Scale display set.
Boeing KC-97L Stratotanker
121st Air Refueling Wing (Lockbourne AFB, Ohio 1974)
&
McDonnell F-4D Phantom II
USAF 78th TFS, 81st TFW, RAF Woodbridge, England

Box Data
The C-97 was the military transport version of the Boeing Stratocruiser. Between 1943 and 1950, 74 Stratofreighters were ordered; the first flight occurred on November 15, 1944. A tanker version (KC-97) was introduced in 1950 using the “flying boom” refueling system, and all subsequent USAF contracts for C-97s were for tankers. On June 7, 1973, the aircraft on display was christened “Zeppelinheim” by the mayor of that German town, honoring its use by the 160th Air Refueling Group (Ohio ANG) during Operation “Creek Party,” the aerial refueling of NATO forces in Europe. It was flown to the Museum in August 1976.

Re: Corgi Pics!

Great picture! Don't collect the scale, but I love being tempted occasionally!

Re: Corgi Pics!

This very C-97 is on display in the Air Force Museum. I was standing in front of it on Saturday.

Re: Corgi Pics!

I kind of like this one..It reminds me of the KC-97s of the Texas Air National Guard I used to see when I lived on NAS Dallas...I remember the brakes on those things making a hell of a racket as they were returning to the hardstand late at night.....I just wish the boom angle wasn't so extreme..I wonder if it could be adjusted without putting the F-4 in a nose-dive.

Re: Corgi Pics!

It would nice if Corgi does a 1/144th Tupulev Tu-95 Bear flanked by 2 US Navy F-4s - I really REALLY like retro-Cold War displays!

Pics pretty neat but I have to agree with you Skunky. That boom angle is pretty extreme. Still nice though.

Re: Corgi Pics!

I hear you buddy. The one thing I always try and do is to get a model that is painted to represent the same one I have worked on, or is special to me for some reason(such as the aircraft at the USAFM).
