| Halifax Proposed Halifaxes Wondering what you folks reckon on the proposed Halifax's that are now featured on Tricatus' excellent website. The lower two look mouthwatering (especially the 'Operation Elaborate' version)....... BUT........... seriously worried about the wrong-looking, ' too tapered downwards ' nose slope, on the 35 Sqdn machine, (of which, the actual aircraft exists; having been raised up from/out of Lake Hocklingen in Norway - after having been attacking/ & then shot down by the 'Tirpitz'). Seems to be suffering - same problem with the old Matchbox kit, regarding the upper nose area (if you chose to build an early version). ALSO the 4x gun mid-upper turret is WRONG for that version....... SHOULD be a 2 x gun turret, closely resembling that of a 'spherical' shaped type turret, like the one's fitted to Lockheed Hudsons. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Halifax Proposed Halifaxes I can't wait for them Hornchurch! I think with Corgi's record on their latest new castings this one's going to be stonking good, and the fact their covering both Merlin and Hercules engined variants means I've got to go cabinet shopping, cause there's a few Hally's coming home with No4! So I'm not too bothered by what I see wrong in the pre-pro photo's. I agree the nose taper on the 35 Sqn W1048 looks off like the matchbox plasic kit, but I think someone has said that it is the Matchbox kit! Right too on the mid-upper turret - should be a Boulton Paul 'C' like the Hudson turret, not the 'A' depicted. Typical pre-pro gaffs that *touch wood* will be corrected. And my wish list, well top three would be... LV907 - Friday The Thirteenth - no doubt the coolest and most well know Hally W1048 - check! NA337 - the restored one now at the RCAF Museum in Canada. I've followed this restoration for years and know several people involved. It's a Special Duties A Mk.VII Halifax so distinct from the other two. Plus I just had a climb around inside her a month ago and simply must have a model of her now. Funny thing is I arrived home from Canada determined to build the model, and logged onto the forum to find Corgi's doing a diecast Halifax - SWEET! | |||||||||||||
