| I asked this on the old forum but it was quickly steamrolled w/o answer. Does anyone have any evidence (photos, sources, etc...) of this planes existence? Galland would have had to pilot "Yellow 13" sometime between his appointment as Kommandeur III/JG26 (<<+) 10 June and 22 August 1940 when he was promoted to Geschwader Kommodor JG26 (<-+-), maybe earlier in August as I don't remember the exact date when yellow or white noses and rudders were adopted. His aircraft after his promotion is well documented, but this one not so much. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 49202 Galland Bf 109E Thank you for your repsonse but I am not sure what you are directing me to. The illustration on that link is the well documented yellow nosed 109E that will be released as part of Corgi's Eagles of the Reich series, note the fuselage code <-+- denoting Geschwader Kommodor. The 49202 carries the code <<+ for commander of a gruppe, a lower rank. The search continues.... | |||||||||||||

| Re: 49202 Galland Bf 109E I haven't found anything in my library yet, but I'll keep looking. Can you help me figure out what time period we are looking for? Here's a timeline that I've put together. Trying to fit the aircraft into the timeline would help me out: 1940 May 15 - Galland serves as Adjutant, JG27 May 28 - Galland in JG26 June - Galland promoted to Gruppenkommandeur of III/JG26 August 1 - Awarded Knight's Cross End of August – Promoted to Geschwader Kommodore of JG26 September 25 – Receives Oak Leaves to Knight’s Cross The pictures I CAN find are linked below – the 109 with the demon dog and Gruppenkommandeur “<<” markings, and another black and white pic from a Galland website that clearly has a completely yellow nose as well as “<<” markings. I will let you know what I find. | |||||||||||||
