Unhappy Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Quoted by MartinBull on the UK forum:

The December 2006 issue of FlyPast features a ( brief ) interview with Corgi's Range Research Manager, Rob Hinchcliffe. You'll need to buy the magazine to read all of it. I hope it's OK to post this here ( I don't usually 'lift' stuff from publications ), but one question is important to collectors here ; -

FP : Is Corgi considering any more 1:32 scale models ?

RH : 'We feel that we have covered the most important iconic aircraft, so nothing new is planned at present , particularly as the price point and the size of the models makes collecting in numbers difficult.
That said, in time we may revisit the scale, for example to feature a different era'.

So - pick the bones out of that.....

Sounds like bad news for us "Large Scale" collectors....

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

That's really too bad. I'm not a big collector of 1:32 I only have 3 but if they would have made a better selection I would have bought more

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Well thats to bad...I was hoping they do a Corsair or Fw190 in the 1/32 range now i guess it won't be happening.
But i'm thankful for the ones i do have and their priceless to me.

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Sad news. I cannot believe they think there are no more other suitable choices for this scale. I suspect the main reason is cost. The new round of proce increases is probably pushing these over the limit of acceptability.

So, how "collectible" are the existing models? No more = more $$$?

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

I thought the (Unwin) Spitfire, (Barkhorn) 109 & Mosquito's were excellent......

However, I think the Hurricane looks really poor (cockpit & nose area/cowl fit - NOT)....... such a bitter disappointment/which is why I refuse to buy one - yet I love the subject.

So few folks this side of the pond wanted to part company with £ 119.00 for the Mossie's on their initial release.

I paid about £ 50 - odd, for my two Mosquito's (Night Bomber & Moncton Exp').

They were dumping the P.51's like there was no tomorrow.

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Thats a shame, I love the 1:32nd stuff, and was looking forward to some new stuff...Being a big 1/6th collector, I really enjoyed the detail of the 1:32nd....

I would think so.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
