Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Quoted by MartinBull on the UK forum:
The December 2006 issue of FlyPast features a ( brief ) interview with Corgi's Range Research Manager, Rob Hinchcliffe. You'll need to buy the magazine to read all of it. I hope it's OK to post this here ( I don't usually 'lift' stuff from publications ), but one question is important to collectors here ; -

FP : Is Corgi considering any more 1:32 scale models ?

RH : 'We feel that we have covered the most important iconic aircraft, so nothing new is planned at present , particularly as the price point and the size of the models makes collecting in numbers difficult.
That said, in time we may revisit the scale, for example to feature a different era'.

So - pick the bones out of that.....

Sounds like bad news for us "Large Scale" collectors....

I am not necessarily a "glass is half full" type, but as I re-read this today, I think it sounds optimistic that Corgi's 1:32 line WILL be revisited; maybe not in the near future, but I don't think it is dead. BTW, I did an exhaustive North American retailer search this week for 1:32 Spitfires. Besides the two newest of the line, they are about all gone--no Unwin anywhere, and very few of the others.

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

I noted in the new BBMF release thread that Corgi was producing the BBMF Hurricane in 1/32, so maybe all is not lost..

I spotted that too, I live in hope. I really want the Grumpy Spit but it's like finding hens teeth.

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Hi Cap, I have 13 1/32 Corgis plus a bunch of 21st Century stuff as well as a couple of FoV ground vehicles. Mrs T lets me put them all on show in the family room in the basement. I did once try for one of the spare bedrooms as a dedicated hobby room but after much discussion my wife decided that we didn't want to do that.
If memory serves then I think Cardinal has the most 1/32 Corgi and I reckon Hworth as got the most 1/32 overall.
Taff

Does done a quick count of the 1/32 and 1/35 stuff

I have 48 Corgi 1/32 and 8 GMP 1/35 ......but don't tell the wife

Yes, David, but wouldn't it be nice to own 48 (+8) different moulds in those scales, as opposed to multiples of just a few?

I say: YES!!!!! Bring on the large-scale F-4Us, F-6Fs, FW-190s, P-47s, Zeros, etc, etc...

You are so right on that one .

Lets hope the Hobby Master rumors bare some fruit. I would like almost any combat aircraft in 1/32 (or 1/35) , as long as the standard is good.

I pray to the die cast gods, that Hobby Master do not turn out one like the FOV 109

Re: Corgi 1/32 DEAD after 2006

Are you guys really getting positive vibes about Corgi reviving their 1:32nd line or is it just 'wishfull-thinking' ?
