1/32 Corgi,, Diecast??

I just picked up my first 1/32 Corgi, a Hurricane. When I lifted it out of the box the first thing that I noticed was the weight of it. It was a lot lighter than I was expecting a plane of this size to be. Is the Corgi 32 line mostly made of plastic? I haven't weighed them to see the difference but I don't think that my Marushin 1/48 Val is far off from weighing the same as the 1/32 Hurricane.
I know theres some plastic on all the the diecast models but in this case there seems to be quit a bit.
Am I wrong or has anyone else noticed this?

Rockjock,
I don't think you can fairly compare Marushin with any diecast manufacturer in regards to diecast heft since Marushins Fuselages/wings are solid zinc and quite heavy.. This was the first thing I noticed while assembling my Marushin Frank fighter, that it really weighed in, much heavier in fact, then Corgi's big bombers.. I have a Corgi 1/32 Hurricane and I think a good portion of it is metal, but it is constructed differently than the Marushin so there will be a noticable weight difference..

Harry when you say heavy....How much does the Marushins Frank weight ??
My Corgi Hurri seems to weight more then the other 1:32 Corgi planes i have.

I don't have a scale, but I would say 2-3 pounds easy.. And that is for a 1/48 scale fighter, but I am also taking into consideration that the Val is probably constructed the same way, so it would be even heavier since it is a larger plane..
All I know is that my Marushin is one heavy bugger and it easily outweighs most of the larger planes in my collection (besides my 1/32 Mossie)..

I can't wait to put my Marushin and Corgi B-17 on a weight scale just for sh_ _ n' grins to find out which one weighs more. I gotta go with Harry's assumption that the Marushin has
that 'heft' feel to it, indeed! Even when un-assembled and still in it's box you really notice the weight of that diecast!

Your probably right Harry about comparing how each is made. All of the Marushin's are heavy buggers but I would of thought that the Corgi Hurricane would of weighed more than it does. The Franklin Mints even seem to have a lot more heft than the Corgi's. Don't get me wrong though,,, I do like the Corgi's. I have several more of their models ordered. The three Mosquito's, several Hurricane's, and a couple of the 109's.

Sounds like you have quite a load of metal coming your way.. Just wait till you see how big those Mossies really are, and I guarantee, you'll be making "manly grunts" while holding one of those babies..

JP,
If you need one, Perry's has them for a decent price, or you can get one of the Benson Mossies for under $100 and shipped free on top of that from Onmark's sale..
