Reason: add image
I agree. Putting in those MGs was a bit trickier than I envisioned. In my plastic model days, it was just a matter of a heated needle, trim the flash, and insert some matte black and wipe excess. Done. This was very different as I had to create 8 pilot holes with a micro-awl, then go to town widening each by hand with a modified bit. Easy going though, as one false move will look like a 109 canon hit across the top or bottom of the wing(!) In the end, 8 equal holes were created and given the above matte black treatment. Results in the image below. You know, this little Spitfire has given me so much enjoyment just fitzing around with these minor mods that it has really earned a special place in my collection! ![]() Armed again! | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Seriously Corgi, Why? It was the MkVb version Timbo. The cannon armed Mk1s (with no MGs) were a nightmare and the only one with any success with them was the late George 'Grumpy' Unwin who died recently at the great age of 92. Later Mk11bs had at least 4 Browning .303s if the cannon went U/S. Ammuntion went up in the MkVbs to 120 RPG from the original 60. Most of the bugs were ironed out in the MkVb and successor Mk1X. | |||||||||||||
