Re: Favorite Lancaster

Any chance we could work a special, limited edition lancaster just for us folks (and others, of course)?

Nothing special, just a standard version with standard camo and cool/relevant aircraft marking. I sure we could line up enough folks to make it successful, especially if the run was relatively small (say 3-400 units).

What a great idea..i am with you Raven and Cardinal on this.
A Model Hangar Special Commission would be a superb idea...I am sure there would be enough interest from everyone else.
No one has done a Four engined special...would be a first...and a Lanc at that,Coool.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I have all of the Corgi Lancs except Admiral Prune... I would want to suggest that perhaps there are two "special" lancs out already, although none from an independent store. The Battle of Britain set might qualify here (although there is probably a good arguement against it since it was "ltd" to 5000...) but the Easter Egg Lanc was one that was only 300 and if you take out those that ended up being sold without the certificate, there are probably fewer than that available. I also like the RCAF silver model since it is so different from the others, but Mickey the Moocher from the BoB set is my favourite of the others. Certainly one of the best moulds ever done by Corgi so far!

May the farts be with you, and not me.

I heard that she looks good in the museum, but I would love to see any pics.

Yo mustangdriver, you're in luck! I've fished out 3 photos and completed the scans. I will post them as soon as I can.

Pictures of S-Sugar at Hendon as promised. These must be two or three years old.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Hey thanks man, that was really cool of you to go and find those pics for me. S for Sugar does look great. I eventually want to get the Corgi model of it, but it is going to be alittle while before I can shell out that kind of money for one, as I just dropped like $400.00 on diecast in a month. I would love to get to that museum eventually. I think that she is my favorite of the Lancs.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

MustangDriver (& any other fans of S for Sugar).........

You should check out this seriously impressive Royal Air Force website link, about R.5868 - S for Sugar.

http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafwaddington/r5868.html

It gives a day by day (or should that read Night by Night !) account of
EVERYTHING that amazing Lancaster went through.... till 137th mission.

Detailed accounts of each mission - and some of their consequences
(i.e. the 26th Nov '43 mission - bent wing/Ground loop)......
Even tells you about repeated attacks by Ju 88's - Me 110's & F.W. 190's........& how she survived against the odds.

Even tells of her post-war tales, through the '50's, 60's & '70's

(There are also original wartime pictures of her).

Read the Page...... & tell me you're not seriously impressed ?
