Re: Favorite Lancaster

I love the rcaf lancaster.
Maybe one day I'll buy one in 1/72.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Thanks for the great input guys. It looks like I have several options to look into with these birds.

Are there any that you feel are complete garbage?

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Hi Chiefs70
From my point of view,i think they are all superb models in their own way, although a lancaster like the grand slam version without a front or mid-upper turret does just not look right to me.
Same with the pathfinder lanc...just not quite right.
Just my personal opinion of course
S for Sugar (my favourite) and G for George i would go for if you can get one for a decent price or the BOB Memorial set...this is a great lanc also.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I would have to agree with Ace the ones without the mid upper turret do look a bit off, but they are all nice. Not to sure about the 2007 offering it looks very plane, and they are going to be about $120.00 new. The RCAF Maritime Rescue is a much nicer bird in my opinion, and still can be found fairly easily at a reasonable price.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I would have a favorite if I could buy one for a decent price.........speaking of..............why doesn't Corgi make more I'm talking about a standard run of the mill bomber not a special version.

The "sights and sounds" Lancaster is a regular bomber, with the only difference being the base is electric.. And you can get one for $159, not a bad price for a Lancaster.. I am seriously looking at picking one up..

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Oh G for George is the go. Saw the real job at the Australian War Museam and I just had to have it. The RCAF Lanc is good to and I gave that model to my oldest son.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

S for Sugar is my favorite lancaster though i also like my KM-B and Dambuster. I also have the Grand Slam but I don't really like the look of it.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

On the 1/72 "Dambuster" Lanc, AA32608, I know it has the working spotlights. But are the spotlights actually angled correctly to form a figure "8" ? (which was what was supposed to happen at 60 feet above the water for the plane to come in at the right height).

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Any chance we could work a special, limited edition lancaster just for us folks (and others, of course)?

Nothing special, just a standard version with standard camo and cool/relevant aircraft marking. I sure we could line up enough folks to make it successful, especially if the run was relatively small (say 3-400 units).

A Model Hangar special commission perhaps?

I think there would be a lot of support for such a venture, but some retailer/distributor would have to be prepared to facilitate such a venture as well as carry the (limited) inventory risk (any takers ).

I think that there are many of us who would happily pay a reasonable price for a standard (accurate) 1/72 Lancaster with cool markings .
