Re: Favorite Lancaster

I have 3 Lancs love them all. The RCAF Maritime Rescue has a very nice finish that stands out and gets a lot of comments.(found this one for $60.00 about a year and half ago) Also have the 419 Sqd. Mynarski Lanc which is nice, just wish it had the right turret on it, not the one that's on the aircraft at the museum. And also have the Lanc from the Pathfinder set which is also very nice with the markings on the tails. But for a true model of a Lanc I would have to say S for Sugar or G for George. The one I really what though would have to be Mickey the Moocher with that great nose art. Still searching for that on always get sniped on the bay when on comes up.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

S for Sugar is sweet. The real aircraft is on display in a museum in Europe somewhere.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I have most of them and love them all. If I had to choose it would be the dambuster and admiral prune (both Gibson lancs).
The first because it was the plane that started my corgi addiction (next to the fact that it looks great) and the second because I think it's the best looking standard lanc.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I have aa32604 Admiral Prune and like it very much. Also have Mickey, BBMF, Dambuster, and Just Jane in 1/144. Started collecting those and vowed I'd never spend the $ for a 1/72.

Then I found Gibson's bird last year for $140. Now I have 5 and still want another in 1/72.

Cool Re: Favorite Lancaster

I have No.44 Sqn KM-B. Awesome model. It just takes your breath away in a way few models do. I'm glad I got this one but I reckon S-Sugar or Mickey the Moocher are really hot. Mine's very plain but then again, generally they all were.

BTW Mustangdriver, I saw S-Sugar at RAF Hendon in London if I remember correctly. That was before their major revamp. Maybe the brits can tell us if she's still there.

I reckon this is Corgi's best heavy bomber by far!

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I heard that she looks good in the museum, but I would love to see any pics.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

Sorry matey. That's a big ask. I may have a picture or two taken in bad light that would have to be scanned if found. Why not check the Imperial War Museum website. Check Hendon, they must have recent pics. Hendon had a major overhall with new well lit halls, should be awesome now.

PS I'll have a dig around and see what I can come up with.

Re: Favorite Lancaster

I've just got the one Lanc - G for George. I figured that I was only going to have room for one in my collection, and so I wanted one that best represented a "typical" Lancaster. George fits the bill perfectly!

Cost me a fortune, but worth every cent - absolutely love this model, one of my favourites :-))

PS: I can see myself adding at least two Halifaxes to the collection, so might have to find another Lanc to balance things. In which case a Dambuster version will be on my shopping list!!!!!

Thumbs up Re: Favorite Lancaster

Whats a good deal for one of these, I would like to get one as well, it is a cool looking plane and in this scale must be massive. I found a few here and there all over $150.00 + shipping and I found one on Ebay for under $100.00, I am guessing thats the good deal?
