Corgi 2007 Releases: Flight Line

US33710

Heinkel He 111H-1 wk-nr 5449 of Geschwader Stab Kampfgeschwader 26, Gabbert, Germany, October 1939
Mar 2007

This aircraft had the dubious distinction of being the very first Luftwaffe bomber to be shot down over the British Isles. The aircraft crash-landed in the Lammermuir Hills near Edinburgh after being set upon by Spitfire Is from Nos. 602 and 603 Sq. on October 28, 1939. The He 111 had two sets of upper surface wing crosses. This highly unusual feature was adopted by the unit to prevent its bombers from being accidentally shot down by friendly fighters.

US33313

B-17G-40 42-97061 of the 401st Bombardment Squadron/91st Bombardment Group, Bassingbourn, April 1944 with 5 figures 1 pilot 4 crew
Oct 2007

One of the 91st BG’s most famous bombers, this aircraft was assigned to the group in mid-March 1944. Its artwork was applied by well-known artist Sgt. Tony Starcer, and the bomber was christened by “Ike” himself with a bottle of Mississippi River water on April 11, 1944. A stalwart of bombing operations in the ETO, this aircraft led the group on at least 32 missions.
Having survived the war, it was flown back to the USA in the summer of 1945 and eventually sold for scrap.

They look cool. I like the 909 set that I have.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Nice pics Hackl! All you need now is a can of air to get the props spinning.

I really like the different night effect with "Heinkel He 111H-1" image.
