AA37105 NEW!
Handley Page Halifax A V
DG396/QQ, NO. 295 Squadron, Operation Elaborate,
NO. 38 Wing, Army Co-Operation Command, Holmsley South, 1943

Fourth Quarter 2007

On September 17, 1943, this aircraft, towing a Horsa glider, was attacked by eight Ju 88s. Its pilot, Flight Officer Norman, refused to jettison his glider and skillfully evaded cannon and rocket fire from the Ju 88s. The glider crew released themselves to give Norman a better chance, and he made it to Sale on three engines following two rocket hits. His tail gunner, Sgt. Grant, received a DFM for shooting down one of the attackers, while Norman received a DFC. Following the completion of its service with No. 295 Sq., DG396 was passed to No. 148 (Special Duties) Squadron and eventually SoC on April 1, 1945.

Re: Corgi 2007 Releases: WWII Battle For The Desert

Looking over the latest desert offerings from Corgi, is going to nullify my good intentions to downsize my lust and keep my purchases to a minium. I had planned a holiday In Ireland and Spain next year. It may be green in Ireland but the deserts of N. africa is about to render my credit card as arid as the Saraha. I have 23 models representing North and West Africa. I think 30 or so should suffice. We still have hangovers from the 2006 offerings to contend with. WhAT'S AN AIRPLANE NUT TO DO $$$$$$ Swoop.

Re: Corgi 2007 Releases: WWII Battle For The Desert

VERY tasty stuff! That Halifax isn't in my top three most desired Hally liveries, but it's still awfully tempting and will be hard to resist whenthe price inevitably drops to the $50 range.

And that Mustang...

but Corgi, please, say it with me now...

"...it's a MUSTANG IA"

"...it's a MUSTANG IA"
