ESCI 1/48 Mig-27 Flogger D

Second completed kit. Was not an easy build, as I've been told previously. Still, the need to fill and sand the gaps, the fit issues, the lack of detail, the raised panel lines, etc, all forced me to practice and learn. The paint finish is not the best, and weathering did not quite turn out as I'd hoped.

Camo paint job was applied freehand, and again the kit was built completely OOB with no extras.

Very very nice!
Looks like all the effort was really worth it. Honestly, I thought the paint finish and weathering were very well done.
Wish this was available in diecast though!

Nice work, Min. I hope that HM and other diecast makers are considering this one for future development. For me, it's a must.

Very cool build.

I have a 1/72 ac-130 by ESCI to build one day. Wonder how many problems I will have with that kit.

Looks good! And building an ESCI through to completion is an accomplishment to be proud of. The temptation to --blow up/smash against the wall/throw on the floor and stamp on-- an ESCI kit, midway through construction, is rather strong.

Great looking build you did with the Mig 27.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

It was a challenging build, alright. What I found most difficult was the lack of locating points for some of the smaller parts.

Oh and I mucked up the paint job quite a few times too, with a lot of overspray when freehanding the camo pattern. Last but not least, I applied too much flat base to (what I hoped was) the final finish, leaving a powder-like dusting all over the plane. Remedied that by carefully stripping off that top layer, then redoing a light coat of Future, and finally misting on the flat.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments.

My next build is a Revell 1/72 SR-71 Blackbird. I know, I know.... I'm just jumping on the bandwagon here... But those builds looked so good (esp. Chris' ) that I just had to do one for myself!

Re: ESCI 1/48 Mig-27 Flogger D

It came out nice, like the camo very traditional Mig 27 camo. I wish Hobby Master made that in 1/72.
