Italeri TU-22 Backfire

Italeri 1/72 kit . few problems but overcome them ( intakes) . Big beast . you wont see this in diecast ( not in 1/72 anyway)

23 inches long ,16 inches wide .

another commission for draken

HOw i wished they make them in die cast. Nice looking plane nevertheless.

Nice build on a really cool plane. Would be very interested in hearing what issues were involved with the kit. I've been considering a build up of that kit myself. I'm trying to decide between the Backfire or the Bear.

The only real isue is both intakes ( trying to line up with fuselage) .. the fuselage is 4 pieces . upper and lower halves . Then approx 6" for the nose ( which is side to side fitting ) ,i put 30 grammes of weight in nose . Then attch nose to fuselage . let it dry overnight . The intakes once made ( no problems) are then fitted both sides to airframe .. now this is where there is small problem . I found that the height of intakes do not match the overall height of the mating surface of fuselage , so filler is needed .Its kind of tricky as its underneath and the plane is white on underside so care is needed unless you want the repair to show through. That is the only "problem" i found when building the kit
