Bachmann Mini-Planes

Bachmann, a firm founded in 1833 (I wonder what they manufactured originally) has produced HO railway items, and in 1969, it introduced its line of Mini-Planes plastic models. Probably a hundred or so planes, helicopters and even a dirigible made up this line, which Bachmann discontinued in 1982. When I was a kid, I loved to play with them, especially the Fokker Eindecker, but, being fragile, they were not really intended for play and they broke easily. Here are some of those that I have in my collection today. They all have the original boxes.

Historically earliest first:

Jet Liners. Note the TWA, Convair 880 !
Unrealistically shown with "gear up" - the small struts and wheels are fragile and hard to set in the "down" position.

Re: Bachmann Mini-Planes

Thanks for sharing, Tone. Really enjoyed seeing the WW I aircraft. They are not bad looking at all! If known, what scale are they?

I used to collect these as a kid and thought they were awesome.. Compared to todays standards, it is amazing how far things have come..

Re: Bachmann Mini-Planes

When I was about 9.y.o (30 years ago) I went to the Alabama space and rocket center in Huntsville Alabama. After touring the facilty we kids went to the gift shop and alas I bought my first and only BMP. It was the Fokker DVII. I never forgot the lozenge pattern under the wings. I now own the Modelpower version and love it. I am going to leave now "Fyboys" tarts in an hour and a half don't want to miss it! Good memeories those BMP pics thanks.

Talking Re: Bachmann Mini-Planes

Right on Tone! Nice collection! I have most of the Bachmann planes. They are very sentimental to me more than anything really. They led me into modeling at a young age. They were cheap and readily available in the 70's.
I have them all boxed up in the attic now, though after seeing your photos I am going to have to bring them out for a visit.
Nice little trip down memory lane Tone, Thanks!
