Re: Tamiya Masterwork 1:48 F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage"

Elmer, great pictures of a wonderful plane. There aren't many planes that were the right design at the right time... the Spitfire was one of them, too. Was ahead of its time in the mid thirties, had the growth potential to evolve with the times and technologies. There are only beautiful Corsairs... each version had a good look to it.

Congrats on the model!

Thanks, Ara! And I share your sentiments for the Spit and the Corsair. They are both, indeed, beautiful.

Both very nice, yet each approached mechanical challenges (powerplant and landing gear) quite differently. Radial vs inline, outward retracting vs. rear retracting... there's no one right answer. As Patton said, a good plan executed now is better than a perfect plan next week. As exemplified by the F4U-1a evolving right up through the F4U-5N and even beyond, there will be time to improve as we move along.
