Great pictures Elmer. I have the Masterworks P-47 as well as several of the tanks and think they are great additions to my diecast collection, even though they are mostly plastic.

They're talking about the canopy shape. Looks like a 109 canopy with the rails going through it.

As opposed to a bubble...

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

The top one with the more framework is the birdcage version of the canopy.

Did you build or buy that built. I thought MW products came built???

I bought it built. You are right, all Tamiya MW products (I think) are pre-built. I did none of the weathering, so what you see is what you get out of the box.

THanks Elmer, looks really nice! May have to try to track one down and break my "no plastic" rule (Though there are a few metal parts, right, such as the gear?)

Are the flaps poseable?

You're welcome, Pappy... the pictures are just for you!

Yes... a few metal parts (gear struts and I think the aerials and pitot tubes... I still haven't put them on!). The model is big, so it has some heft for a plastic model. The Me 262 is even heavier... weighted for what is supposed to be accurate weight to scale ratio (I will post pictures of this one soon). The Corsair flaps are fixed in the down position, but I tell ya' they look gotta love those extended flaps!

Thanks again -- I agree, the Corsair looks great in the 'dirty" configuration -- as in Hottrap's avatar. (love that print, think it stan stokes..)

Re: Tamiya Masterwork 1:48 F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage"

Elmer, great pictures of a wonderful plane. There aren't many planes that were the right design at the right time... the Spitfire was one of them, too. Was ahead of its time in the mid thirties, had the growth potential to evolve with the times and technologies. There are only beautiful Corsairs... each version had a good look to it.

Congrats on the model!
