| Heller 1/72nd Focke Wulf Fw 56 Stosser. Well, got kind of bored yesterday, so decided to put a kit together for a change (That and no real diecast on the horizon at the moment.). I pulled a Heller 1/72nd scale Fw 56 Stosser off the shelf and got to work on it. First observation on the kit was that there was not a whole heck of a lot to it, that and I do need new glasses. Have to admit it was fun putting a kit together again, shoot last one I did was back in 1996 or 1997. I have an Aztech airbrush my folks got for me quite a few years back that needed to be put to use. The kit must have been fairly old in that the decals had already started to get brittle (Finally convinced them to go on though.). After finishing the kit I decided next one needs to be at least 1/48th scale. I put in an order for a two 1/48th kits I have been eye balling for awhile. First is an Eduard I-16 type 29 (With Romanian decals,,, Hmmnn). and the other is the Mirage Hobby PZL-11C. ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Heller 1/72nd Focke Wulf Fw 56 Stosser. Nice work. It looks quite realistic. I've not seen a German plane with a yellow tab on the tail fin. Does that signify a training plane? | |||||||||||||

Yep, single seat advance trainer. Now I just need to find where I stashed my charcoal sets. I like use them for doing engine exhaust detailing, and also found that I was out of Solvaset and a few other items I normally like to use. I definitely need to get in some more practice building again, but having fun. Normally I wash my kits before construction to get rid of any releasing agents or grease that still might be on the model, I was half way through before I remembered. Just have to get in a little more practice on building again. When I get the larger kits in I need to find myself a jewelers loupe or a headset for doing cockpit interiors on the larger models. I also remembered that I really do not like to make parasol monoplanes, especially when the kit does not have attachement points. Some of the struts had attachment points on the wing, but only slight depression for the mainstruts on the fuselage sides, nothing for the struts on the cowling decking. Putting on the wing was just a whole lot of fun. So this weekend making a run to Hobby Town USA to see if they have any modeling supplies, and the rest I will pick up on line.

I have started on another slightly off the beaten track model. Just began work on a 1/48th scale Bf 109B-2, Junker Jumo powered and has a two bladed variable pitch prop. Nose is definitely different than the Bf 109Es.
