1/72 Italeri C-47 "Richard Winters, D-Day"

Some of y'all may have seen this on the DAC forum, but here goes...P.S.: glad to be home!

Just received the following as a belated wedding gift from a good friend of mine. He is the same modeling master that painted the Dragon F-16I Sufa I previously posted. This is C-47 "42-100646" piloted by Lt. Bill Sammons on June 5th, 1944 out of Uppottery destined for Ste. Marie du Mont, with Lt. Richard "Dick" Winters of "Band of Brothers" fame serving as jumpmaster. After many hours of research, I was able to piece together the correct markings. My father made the decal sheet, our friend did the building and painting and I'm the lucky individual that gets to add this little jewel to my collection. If anyone would like to know the markings, perhaps to strip and repaint a Corgi C-47, please let me know.

C-47 "42-100646": 91st TCS, 439th TCG, 50th TCW, IX TCC

Thanks fellas. It looks really nice with my "Band of Brothers" prints. I'll try and get a better picture of Lt. Winters in the door, he looks outstanding!

nice model. i don't know how accurate you're going for but winters didn't wear a reserve chute on d-day. he had too much other gear! thanks, tom

Very nice and well thoughtout piece, Tundra! Of course now you have to have a 1/6 DID figure of Dick Winters in his airborne getup to finish your overall display!

Band Of Brothers is my favorite series to watch every now and again!
