Re: 1/72 Italeri C-47 "Richard Winters, D-Day"

nice model. i don't know how accurate you're going for but winters didn't wear a reserve chute on d-day. he had too much other gear! thanks, tom

Wow, there's always a critic! Just kidding, good catch. Seeing as how there aren't too many 1/72 paratroopers, especially ones molded in a "standing in the doorway" pose, my friend had to modify one and I wasn't going to complain. I think this one was originally molded in an "on the ground struggling with my chute" pose.

Very nice and well thoughtout piece, Tundra! Of course now you have to have a 1/6 DID figure of Dick Winters in his airborne getup to finish your overall display!

Band Of Brothers is my favorite series to watch every now and again!

Seriously! Didn't Dragon released one not too long ago?...not a specific Dick Winters figure, but a Lt. from Easy Company?

Fantastic job and thanks for the pictures! Love the 'spinning props' too! I would love to see this in diecast in the same scale as I am way to lazy now to build a model.

Excellent work on the model - love the "spinning" props - and the display itself. My compliments to your friend and to you & your father for your want of this historical tribute!

Those spinning props are Photo Etched parts . I saw some in local hobby shop , i personally didn't like them , very fragile and dust magnates .. easily bent when dusting . even with a make up brush . Love the model though

Chris,

Glad you like it! As it to the props, these are NOT photo-etch. Basically, he takes an acrylic disc of the appropriate size for the blades and removes the correct number of "wedges." For example, three bladed prop = three wedges, four bladed prop = four wedges. He then feathers the remaining edges using a Dremel tool. He paints and weathers the disc and ends up with the result you see here. Like I said earlier, the guy is good!

Lovely job mate, just love the C-47!

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.
