Rearranging the Deltofs

Placed a few extra shelves in the Deltof's and spent the rest of the day filling them up. Still have to cut a few more pieces of glass. To get some more models in.

Re: Rearranging the Deltofs

Looking good Kabel -- how do you ad those shelves again ?

That Ju-52 looks pretty darn nice... must not be tempted!

(as does everything else of course... but I don't have a Ju-52 in the stable yet)

FYI -- I put some GMPs on Corgi B-25 stands in my detolf and it works pretty well with one parked, and one on a stand per shelf... they're pretty stable with the Mustangs. Might want to put some tack under them though to be safe.

Re: Rearranging the Deltofs

Some more pics, you can really display quite a few models in these units once you add some extra shelving. Thanks again to the forum member who passed on the idea of using the wire rope clips for shelf supports.

There has been a couple different ways posted here. I used 3/16" wire rope clips wrapped around the main support in each corner at the same height. A little wobbly as the glass sit on the nuts so I placed a bit of plumbers putty that I had to level things out. Some one also posted something with a rubber tube bracket or like that the attached to the support and place the glass shelf on them.

I was holding out for the float version of the Ju-52 but who knows if we will ever see it so I picked up this one. Had to have one in the collection.

How's the B-25 stand with the P-40, will have to give it a try.

Re: Rearranging the Deltofs

By placing some models in the Deltof I managed to clean off a shelf to place some Navy tail burners on. Can't wait for my F-8 to arrive. going to have to make room for it so I think it will be by-by Tomcat.

Don't you hate those decisions -- but bye-bye tomcat? You've got two A-7s there...

Thanks for the info on the cabinet! The corgi stands don't work as well with the P-40 I don't think... been a long time since I tried that but the balance wasn't as good or the fit.

PappyB, have you considered the Franklin Mint 1/48 versions of the Ju52? I've recently put the superb (virtually flawless) Crete version on display and it is very impressive - one of my all time favourite pieces of diecast I should add (as is the BoB He111) .

I have been looking at display cabinets for while, I can get some huge wood/glass jobs for good money but think their shear size makes them inflexible in regards to placement & the inevitable repositioning. These detolfs though are looking good, have measured up the car & should be able to fit in two for the trip home.
Might see if Ikea do the extra shelves too.

No, I haven't and won't -- even though it appears to be a very good FM effort. I simply do not like the airframe enough personally to dedicate that kind of real estate -- particularly the box!

I'm actually considering throwing away some of my FM boxes at the moment, which is a hard thing for me to do -- but they are just too darn big!!!
